dark brown appearance beneath a barely existant head. the flavor is strongly sour with a slight sweetness. similar to dutchess de borgogne but doesn’t have the complexities. A solid beer f not extraordinary

Bottle, 25 cl. Brown colour, light beige head. Taste it many times. Aroma is fruity, malty. Taste is nice soury bit as usual for rodenbach.

Pours brown with a thin head. Smells of sour fruit and tastes the same only sweeter. It is very nice for desert and should be sipped slow.

Bottle, best before 06/07. Aroma of sour cherry and apple. Flavor is like a mild lambic. Sweet fruity flavor of various fruits (cherry, grape, and apple) also has a nice sourness. Quite an enjoyable brew, I hope other flemish sours are as good as this one.

Had this on tap at the Sharp Edge Creekhouse in Pittsburgh, got to be one of the best beer tasting places in the states, thanks mtoast. This is my first Flemish sour ale, really looking forward to trying this style. Pours a nice dark brown, not opaque, with an orangish red tinge. Smells like conventional beer, you know, yeasty and such, but there is a hint of fruitiness in the smell. The head is tan and fades to a thin film after the pour. Initial flavor reminds me of homemade wine mixed with ginger ale, very likable. Now I also smell the same characteristics in the aroma. Very interesting and unique. Very little carbonation but the fizzyness it does have is appreciated. Nifty taste, nothing like I’ve had before. A pleasant mildy fruity experience. This must be the end result that most unrefined fruit beers try to achieve. If this was a fruit beer, it would be the best tasting one I ever had. Well behaved and enjoyable – you can tell it is gentleman like and proper. Nice style, I can’t wait to try another beer in this style. Finish has no detectable bitterness and the sweetness is not the least bit syrupy. A very refreshing overall drink; repeatable session beer that is easy to like.

750mL bottle with a cork and cage, just as the picture here on RB. sharp tart aroma of fermented cherry and vinegar, but some citrus tang appears as well. flavor has more tartness initially than in the finish, as much of the oaky sourness succumbs to an almost sweet finish. the grand cru is far better, especially considering the price of each.

Bottle. Head was spare and slightly creamy and light off-white. Color was ruby red. Aroma was very fruity, with notes of apple, grape, cherry. Other notes being leather, caramel and some vinegar. Light to medium bodied with a sticky texture and a soft carbonation. Moderated sweet flavor, with light notes of acidic. Note much bitterness here. Light fresh and average finish. God beginners Flemish Sour I thought, but still enjoyed this one.
