The aroma is sweet and somewhat nutty. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel and nuts - and it is quite carbonated. argo0 (6985), Washington DC, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 7, 2006 Draught@Redbones, Boston. Some nice subtle nuttyness, with soome lightly dry grassy hops in the finish. very drinkable, but it feels very ironed out, and quite clean, which is probably a good thing, but i think something is missing from this alt. Its a very drinkable alt though. JoeMcPhee (5030), Jackson Heights, New York, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 19, 2006 Sampled on draft at Max’s in Baltimore. Has a clear, semi-dark copper hue. First taste is toast, roasted peanuts and crackers. Very raw minerally malt flavor, with some raw, husky barley and rye flavors noticed. Almost like smelling wort, if you can get beyond the overpowering Pacman yeast. Has a big hop bill, no doubt, which works well with the altbier style, but the Pacman yeast just destroys this one, it does not work well, leaving a milky, muddy, almost thick texture on the tongue, when proper altbier should be crisp, slightly sweet and refreshing. Overall I would say it’s good for a Rogue effort, certainly drinkable, but again, as an altibier it’s not to style, and these days, while you don’t expect the "to style" quality so much with most styles, altbier basically demands such.
