Aroma is minimal, with some grain, caramel, and soft fruit. Flavor and palate can be characterized as hoppy red ale with herbal accents and a dry finish. Nice refreshing beer, but certainly not a standout sipper. gotohelunc (476), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 13, 2008 Draft. Amber colored (shocking) with almost no head. Malt and raisins on the nose with some hops. Dark malty flavors, biscuit, and some bitterness that lingers in the mouth. More interesting and bitter than a lot of ambers, but still easily sessionable. v64 (74), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 12, 2008 Definite amber color to it, small white head. Malty aroma with a slight tinge of hops. Solid taste, hoppiness keeps the overall drink well balanced. Lacks some substance, a bit too watery in my opinion. Solid brew though. Snojerk321 (2016), San Diego, California, USA

Clear reddish amber pour under a small stone white head with average lacing. Aroma of fresh biscuits with a little citrus. Solidly malty flavor surrounded by toffee, vanilla, grapefruit and molasses. Healthy dose of hops keeps this brew on the rails. Clean, creamy mouthfeel and a mildly bitter and very crisp finish. daknole (3000), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA

Medium sweet first flavour impression followed by a mild breadish malt base and a solid fruity and wooden hops flavour. Goes solid bitter- and dryness into the finish. Solid, yet not much more. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 1, 2008 Bottle, 12 oz. Amber with a tan head. Excellent lacing. Floral hop aroma with notes of lemon and grapefruit; flavor of same. A metallic finish detracted. vonsolms (25), Måløv, Denmark
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 31, 2008 A classic of the style - this IS the renaissance of American Ale. Bottle from Bryde Vin, Denmark - half price because it was fractionally past the sell-by date - should have been double, because it justs improves. Dry, marginally fruity, sufficiently hoppy but does not overwhelm the lowish alcohol. Ah I miss the US ...
