Aroma is malty, touch of toffee. Taste is gloriously toffee, but with a lovely underblanket of citrus, nicely bitter, hits the spot, bloody good stuff and amongst the 3 for £4 selection I should have got some more. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 23, 2009 On tap at Newport pub location. Pours a red brown with barely any head. Aromas of biscuit, cream, and vanilla. Taste begins sharp, with piney and floral tastes that move it to bitter, and ends with a smooth vanilla taste--definitely different for an amber! | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 21, 2009 On tap in the Mews Tavern RI. Dark red amber pour with a half inch foam head, decent layered lacing. Slight roast and hop malt texture throughout. Enjoyed the blend, seemed complex and stronger than the ABV presents. Great drinker. CitizenZ (23), Kansas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 20, 2009 Deep amber pour with a big tan head which left tons of lacing. Smell is enticing; barley, citrus, good rich notes. Goodly amounts of carbonation and carmel meatiness give way to a crisp hop freshness. A pleasantly complex, medium bodied beer.
