Malt has a moderate smell of caramel, hops smell of pine and herbs and a light note of broth for the yeast with brown sugar and pepper in the background. Head is a rocky off white that’s has excellent lacing and is mostly diminishing, color is light brown. Flavor starts lightly acidic and finishes moderately acidic and a touch bitter. Palate is watery, light to medium with a soft to lively carbonation. The astringent feel at the end is the only part that is disagreeable, other than that it’s a good beer with some quality finer points. pojo41 (315), Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA

Amber colored with a light brown head that dissipates quickly but, leaves a very nice lacing on the glass. Flavor of roasted malt and raisin with a pleasing hop bitterness. Another tasty ale from the folks at Rogue. gsmitty80 (653), Washington DC, USA

Good malt and hoppy aroma with an...wait for it...amber color! Perfect blend of malts and low carbonation makes for a great finish. NCsparkster (12), High Point, North Carolina, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 15, 2007 Bought this to go with some good barbecue chicken. Lil’ late for the 4th, but I was feeling patriotic. Amber in color (fancy that) with lots of billowing foam, at first. It calmed down and left me with a lot of lace, but little head. Nose is of hops and a sweetness like strawberries and caramel. Medium mouthfeel. The taste was very similar to the aroma. It started with a strawberry sweetness on the tip of my tongue, and with that came some mild hoppy spiciness and a roastiness to round it all out. The finish was a little bitter with a hoppy tingling on the tongue and a continuation of that roasted flavor. It wasn’t a bad beer at all. Nothing really special, but certainly a nice brew. jstraw (777), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Nothing complex, but a clean, delicious example of the style. natedoggkc (164), Lenexa, Kansas, USA

Poured a nice amber color with a kind of roasty/hop nose. Had nice hop character with some traditional amber traits. Like an IPA and Amber combined. BDR (2170), Roseville, Minnesota, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 10, 2007 Hazy amber color with quickly fading white head. Malty nose with the faintest orange citrus hop. Citrus hop in there with some faint faint malt. garthicus (1314), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 9, 2007 Amber colour, tiny head (off white) hoppy smell from the outset with a generous lacing of them too. An initial orange bite. Although only 5.1% I feel it has a definite alcohol bite. Enjoyable
