Dark amber pour with red hues and thin head, good lacing. Roasted malts and grains in the nose. Flavor was more malts and grains, caramel and a dry, bittering hops at the finish. Tasted like a really good Irish ale, actually better than most Irish ales I’ve had. jerc (3950), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Resiny hops in aroma with moderate caramel malt. (6+) Pleasant moderate bitterness, nice resiny hops in the flavour. Average palate. Solid quaffable brew. Not particularly complex, but nice. aobecksy (661), Middle of no where, Ohio, USA

Nicer drink than the tackey label. My least favorite of the roguesand I am quite partial to rogues... jason (1624), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 20, 2007 Bottle. Pours a deep amber body with nice head. Aroma is of caramel, sweet malt. Flavor is sweet, loads of caramel, lightly hoppy, and an odd robust flavor to it. Smooth and very drinkable. DuffMan (2769), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 19, 2007 Clear amber brown, big creamy almond head. Very hoppy/leafy nose, a little resinous, with caramel hiding beneath. Palate has a great toffee malt backbone to support the generous hop content. Much hoppier than the Boont Amber I had earlier. A nice illustration of the range within the style. Excellent. redlem (1155), Illinois, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 17, 2007 A good example of an amber ale, depending on the price in your area. Fairly dark amber color with a smallish head. A medium strength aroma of citrus hops and caramel malts. Taste tends more toward the sweet but enough of the hops offset. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jun 16, 2007 Updated: Jun 17, 2007Orange-ish, reddish amber color with off-white medium head. Mostly hoppy, floral, and some slight malt smells, with some rye like odor too that I’m not big on. Taste is hoppy, fruity, but dry and overly bitter, with a similar lasting aftertaste. Unbalanced to me. Was ok at first, but got harder and harder to drink. I can see hop lovers liking this still, but far from one of my favorites. jb (1056), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 15, 2007 Beautiful looking stuff, dark orangish brown. Thick tan head. Malty maple aroma. Nice malty palate with very minimal hop content and a robust mouthfeel that has some caramel and toffee. I really enjoyed this, nice one of this ambiguous ’style.’
