The aroma is of a bready/doughy malt with hints of caramel and prunes. The taste is of a bready caramel malt with some bitter chocolate and prune notes and an earthy piney hop. The brew has a nice moderate body with tingley carbonation, starts off sweet and finishes with a hoppy bitterness. A very solid amber ale; nice malty and hoppy flavors. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 27, 2009 Pours a clear amber color with a thick head that settles nicely and leaves streaks down the sides of the glass. The nose is full of caramel malt and a hint of hop bitterness. As you drink it you can taste fresh hops and caramel malt on the tip of your tounge, but the malt fades and the hops take over . Overall it has plenty of carbonation and is well balanced. Hopper (336), San Antonio, Texas, USA

I’m a big fan of Rogue as a brewery, so I try to grab one or two each time I get beer. This one stood out due to the label, so I picked it up and was pleasntly surprised. Poured a deep brown, with a thick honey colored head. Aroma was dense and pleasant, and the first sip was incredible. The flavor was smooth and sweet, but not too sugary. The beer is a bit heavy, but satisfyingly so. Truly American.
