FishManLA (166), Abita Springs, Louisiana, USA Apr 27, 2008 Lots of beers use the word "Amber" in their name, and this is, of course an amber ale. However, I don’t think I’d ever before seen a beer that was *exactly* the color of "amber". I mean the substance that the color is named after; that you see dead pre-historic bugs trapped in in the museum. This beer is precisely that color! Amazing! It’s a foggy amber. Tan head that dissipates at a moderate rate. Nose is yeasty and uncomplex. Flavor and finish are almost entirely generic hops. It’s a tasty and drinkable brew, to be sure. However, this one is not nearly the standout that some of Rogue’s other awesome and incredible brews are.
Chrism86 (78), Melbourne, Australia Sep 5, 2008 Pours amber tending brown with little to no head. Aromas show sweet caramel honeycombe malt with significant hop presence. Palate delivers what nose promised, finishes with substantial hop aggression. Tessic (379), Brantford, Ontario, Canada Sep 3, 2008 This ale poured a deep copper colour with a nice, creamy tan coloured head that disappeared fast. To the nose there are scents of pine and hopps, juniper berries and a little malt. First taste was creamy with good carbonation and just the right amount of hopps to add a decent bitter value. The finish was just that with a nice creamy malt flavour. The palate was hoppy with a perfect bitterness to finish it off. kpresley77 (71), Jackson, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2008 Bottle pours beautiful hazy amber with very small white head that quickly disapates. Aroma is faint flower and citrius hops with roasted malt backing. Flavor is hops at first then slight sweetness comes in and balances out perfect. There is a slight linger of hops burn. The carbonation is perfect and this is a all around good Amber. cryfreedmb (102), Ocean, New Jersey, USA Aug 24, 2008 Had this at Brickwall Tavern in Asbury. VERY malty. Not the first time I had this but this time it was really lacking any hops. I didn’t mind it but there are many other ambers that I would drink before it. Not sure if I had a bad bottle or what but I didn’t enjoy this brew as much as I thought. Overall, decent but somewhat of a disappointment. Stew41 (877), Caulfield, Australia Aug 16, 2008 Great stuff this. To my palate an American take on the amber ale style. Wonderfully clean and well defined hop aromas, underpinned by some mild caramel malts. Palate is near identical, albeit the malts fade further and are replaced by a slightly aggressive bitter finish. I enjoyed this a lot.
