Murky red-brown body, thin-medium buff head. Intense piney, citrusy aroma, bright, mostly sugared grapefruit and berries. Strong bready, caramely malts pair with piney, grapefruity hops in the body. The hops leave a bitter film on the tongue. Heavier malts than I expected. I did notice slight oxidation. A solid ASA. JCapriotti (1378), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 15, 2006 Draft. Dark copper body, full off-white sticky head. This to me was like a tame and delicious Founders Devil Dancer. It had a good amount of hop complexity... full on citrus and pine, and a good enough malt backing with caramel and dry fruity chocolate for good sweetness. Good stuff! Very drinkable. shp555 (1690), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Taste is of dark malts with lots of bitter grassy hops. Ok mouthfeel, a little on the thin side. 1FastSTi (2579), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 3, 2006 Draft. The beer pours to a deep garnet colored body with a khaki head. The aroma was hoppy and bitter. The flavor was masked by the intense bitterness. Kinda hard to drink 2 of these. Pine hops, grapefruit, some sort of dark fruits. Extremely bitter. So much so, that it was not necessarily enjoyable. Tmoney99 (4777), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Poured hazy brown color with an average frothy white head that lasted with excellent lacing. Heavy caramel sour citrus hoppy aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture. Medium bitter flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of long duration. This is a standout beer. Glouglouburp (2867), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 19, 2006 (tap at Gingerman) Dark burgundy body with a small tan head. That’s one intense beer. The aroma is really campfire-ish with roasted wood and earthy hops. Vigourous taste with cruncy toasted malts, earthy hops, spicy hops, lots of caramel, pine tree, wild berries. As tasty as is sounds. Body of a dark American Ale with the bitterness of a good IPA. Excellent Rogue’s Brewer Rogue Brewer. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 13, 2006 Draft from DRE. Hazy deep brownish pour with aroma of hops, caramel, brown sugary malt, some tropical and citrus fruit, and slight nuts. Tastes hoppy, with a dense malt backbone, and some brown sugary spicey and nutty berry hints in the finish. Ty5592 (1015), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
