Oct 31, 2008 Bottle: Poured a deep brown color ale with a huge thick foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma consists of deep caramel malt with a dry hoppy finish. Taste is also dominated by some deep caramel malt with some sweet notes that are well balanced with a dry hoppy finish. Well done overall and something that I would go for again.

Oct 12, 2008 On tap at the flying saucer in KC. Pours a dark brown with some red streaks. A small, creamy, tan head that stayed for the session and was very lacy. Beautiful. Sweet and roasty aroma with a good amount of chocolate malts, nuttiness, and that Rogue hop smell that I love so much. Full bodied, creamy, and loaded with taste. Very complex. Intense amount of sweet malts and hops. Roasty, chocolate, nutty, caramel, piny. Overall, a very rich and warming beer that really hit the spot. Extremely bitter, but a great balance. Loved it.

Oct 8, 2008 Pint @ Tyler’s in Apex. Great aroma, Sweet. Roasty. Cocoa, floral hops. Dark reddish brown color, good head that stayed for bit. Ok lace. Bittter sweet flavor, caramel, grapefruit bitterness. medium body, creamy mouthfeel, bitter finish. Great aroma, one to sniff for a while, the play between malts & hops is wonderful. Flavor fell short of aroma, narrowly bitter.

Oct 7, 2008 Draught @ Brewer’s on the Bay, Newport, OR. Pours a dark brownish red color with a small tan head. Malty bitter hoppy aroma with hints of chocolate and grapefruit. Sweetish malty hoppy bitter flavor with hints of grapefruit and caramel. Has a long malty hoppy bitter finish with a long bitter aftertaste.

Oct 6, 2008 Draft @ Capones: Poured a dark red/brown with not much head. The aroma was hoppy with sweet malts. The flavor was hoppy as well, with some chocolate malts, spice and well balanced. Overall a really tasty brew that might get better with age.

Oct 5, 2008 Slightly bitter hoppy aroma. Brownish red color. Malty hoppy flavor. Good balance. Strong aclcohol flavor but well balanced by the maltiness.

POurs black, with brownish head.
Aroma, hoppy, light bitter chocolate.
Taste is filled with the Rogue signature hops, coffee malts.
Gained in flavor as it warmed up, got more chocolate and grains out it. Leave a dry finish.
