Commercial Description:
Ten years ago, John Maier introduced to the world his best friend and and beloved dog, Brewer. It was also the year he created this doppel winter ale. An intense, hoppy brew that will warm even the frostiest of toes. Third in the "Anniversary" series.

Draft @ Capones: Poured a dark red/brown with not much head. The aroma was hoppy with sweet malts. The flavor was hoppy as well, with some chocolate malts, spice and well balanced. Overall a really tasty brew that might get better with age.

01.11.2008, On tap at the Rogue Ale house in San Francisco. The colour is dark brown. Pale brown head. The beer smells alittle like tequila!. There is also bitternes, juniperus and alcohol. Very nice complex ale.

Bottle: Poured a deep brown color ale with a huge thick foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma consists of deep caramel malt with a dry hoppy finish. Taste is also dominated by some deep caramel malt with some sweet notes that are well balanced with a dry hoppy finish. Well done overall and something that I would go for again.

Pours a nice deep brown color, nice carbonation, nice one-finger creamy head, which leaves some nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, hoppy, with some caramel. The taste is slightly sweet at first, a big hop bomb, with some malts. Medium body, the alcohol is hidden pretty well. Very drinkable, this is a very nice brew, well done Rogue.

On tap at the flying saucer in KC. Pours a dark brown with some red streaks. A small, creamy, tan head that stayed for the session and was very lacy. Beautiful. Sweet and roasty aroma with a good amount of chocolate malts, nuttiness, and that Rogue hop smell that I love so much. Full bodied, creamy, and loaded with taste. Very complex. Intense amount of sweet malts and hops. Roasty, chocolate, nutty, caramel, piny. Overall, a very rich and warming beer that really hit the spot. Extremely bitter, but a great balance. Loved it.

A great ASA...pours pitch black with little head...very much a wnter ale with it’s strong in malty goodness, but not so hoppy. a dangerous beer in that you could drink a few very quickly and it would hit you
