Excellent ! Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA May 8, 2009 Bottle. Pours an amber body with an off white head. Caramel malts, some light nuttiness, and then its all sorts of hoppy bad-ass-ness. Grapefruit highlights strong tanic tea notes, bitter hop resins, and a nice kick to the face. NosirIwont (1162), Aalborg Vestby, Denmark May 7, 2009 Bottle. Pours a hazy amber/golden with an off-white/yellowish head. Dry, pine hop aroma. Not too powerful. Slightly tart. Flavour is sweetish with bitter pine hops on a malty background. Sweetish finish with lingering bitter liquorice hops. Grassy notes and a slightly watery and metallic touch. Dry. A bit too much carbonation. Overall nice, but a bit too sweet. 07-05-09. TheGrandMaster (1846), Auckland, New Zealand May 6, 2009 Botte (in NZ). Pours a hazy orange with a large foamy head. Big biscuity malt aroma, with fruity hops reminiscent of fruit salad. Dry and bitter palate, with a strong malty flavour - not so sugary - but definitely caramal. A bit of sweetness in the finish, but the hoppy bitterness takes care of that. tokyogoat (505), San Diego, California, USA May 3, 2009 Poured from 22oz bottle into new belgium snifter
Orange golden body with nice tight head
Smells of Hops and caramel. no really strong notes to discern.
Not too well schooled in ESBs, this one is rather sweet, trying to find where the bitter is. Starts out sugary sweet with a little bittering hops, and finishes rather sweet with biscuits and caramel.
Pacman yeast just doesnt do it for me in smaller beers. Leaves a chalky taste. I really wish they would use a cleaner yeast for their lighter beers and stick with pacman on crusty and other big beers. yalnikim (776), Wellington, New Zealand May 2, 2009 Tasted 02/05/2009. 650ml bottle from Beerstore. Slightly hazy rose gold with a big herb and citrus hop aroma and loads of cara to carry it all... perhaps a shade too much of that cara (which I’m beggining to think is as much an American thing as loads of hops). Still, a lovely beer and an easy drinker for 6.2%. Papillon (172), Sudbury, Ontario, Canada May 2, 2009 650 mL Bottle. Murky amber body with a rocky white head that settles to a tenacious foamy layer lacing the sides of the glass generously and leaving "a set of foam ribs" down the side of the glass with every sip. Aroma is intense resiny pungent hops with malt and notes of floral, grapefruit, grass, and pine; absolutely delightful. I wouldn’t call the flavor brutal but it is a flavor bomb nonetheless: intense resiny hops are there yet they make way for a rich malt and grapefruit / apricot expression. Resiny hops with citrus and a spiciness to it speak up in the aftertaste followed by a resiny hop / citrus finish and a grapefruit rind linger. Hey America, you did it again with this one: this is good beer! Rogue Ales, I’ll be knocking on your door for more. Keep up the great work :D
