Commercial Description:
Brutal combines Oregon hops with English Malts. The Oregon grown Crystal hop is a triploid variety developed from the German Hallertau aroma hop variety with contributions from Cascade, Brewers Gold, and Early Green. Crystal is the only hop used in brewing Brutal and it provides a massive amount of aroma without dry-hopping. The English malts used are floor malted Pipkin (a mellow cross of Maris Otter and Warboys, from an English company called Beeston), Cara Vienna and Cara Wheat.

16 oz draft poured medium copper color with an off white head. Grassy ho aroma. Nice medium bitterness. Very good bitter. I had it under the name Rogue Anniversary. So I had no preconceived notions and was happily surprised.

Bottle, bought @ Vinens Verden, Odense.
Pours a great amber with a slight haze. Fine, creamy, white head. Good duration. Aroma is hoppy, lots of pine and grapefruit. Some good, clean maltiness as well. Medium carbonation, fine creaminess. Flavour has a very nice malt base, some sharpish hops. Relatively bitter, some caramel and a good, lasting flavour of pine and fruity hops. Nice.

Bottle. Dark amber coloured with a nice foamy off white head. Floral aroma of grapefruit, citrus and malt. The flavour is hoppy and crispy with notes of tropical fruit.

draft at Taco Mac. dark amber color... little head upon arrival to the table. not a whole lot of aroma, but some pleasant malts and a bit of hops to it. on the palate, this one lives up to its name - it is bitter.... not overpoweringly so, but a nice presence of fresh hops and balanced with English malts. very drinkable and quite thirst quenching after a day of work.

Holy Hopzilla! Fruity and floral hop aroma. Fresh hops dominate this tasty brew. Tangy, citrus flavor. Some malts in there somewhere. Finishes juicy with a lingering bitter hoppiness. A beer made to showcase the beauty of the hops! I like it.

Cloudy amber orange brew, foamy white head with an orangish tint. Soft citrus floral aroma, like orange juice. Solid bitter citrus flavor, like eating a fresh orange, peel and all. very satisfying. Very bitter. Nice! Like Ronald McDonald..."I’m Lovin’ It!" Great orange zest aftertaste lingers.

Bottle. This is a golden orange colour with a thick, spongy, two inch off white head. There’s plenty of lacing left on the glass. The aroma is great with a ton of citrus up front, tropical fruits, especially pineapple, fresh mango, orange, some lemon, also some fresh avocado. The mouthfeel is medium in body, fairly oily; it clings a bit to the tongue. I taste plenty of fresh fruity hops, subtly bitter with lots of mango, some more of that avocado, lemon then some pineapple. The malt background is mostly bready with some mild toffee. The overall hop impression is dominated by fresh fruit; very nice.
