Commercial Description:
Brutal combines Oregon hops with English Malts. The Oregon grown Crystal hop is a triploid variety developed from the German Hallertau aroma hop variety with contributions from Cascade, Brewers Gold, and Early Green. Crystal is the only hop used in brewing Brutal and it provides a massive amount of aroma without dry-hopping. The English malts used are floor malted Pipkin (a mellow cross of Maris Otter and Warboys, from an English company called Beeston), Cara Vienna and Cara Wheat.

Pours hazy orange/amber with tiny fizzy head that dissapears in the blink of an eye. Nose displays caramel and toffee with some stewed fruit. Palate delivers big resiny hop notes, with subtle sweet malt presence.

Aroma of moderate roasted malts with hoppy citrus notes. Pours with a full light brown head, the beer itself is orange/amber with a degree of haze to it. It is moderately bitter but not as much as expected from the name, also a bit of sweetness as well. A tasty beverage with a medium to full body.

Bottle. Pours a hazy orange color with a decent white head. Aroma is pine and citrus. Flavor is bitter and hoppy. Very sweet on the palate. Get ESB style beer.

On tap at McGloughlin’s in Kyoto. Aromatic and balanced aroma of hops and caramel malt. the flavor follows it right up. Pine, citrus, fruit. No surprises, just a perfectly done premium bitter. Great on tap.

This beer is good quality, but not the best Rogue beer. I enjoyed it but I think I would probably prefer the Dead Guy Ale. All in all, a hefty brew with an attibrewed. ~ Z ~

Six pack of 12 ozers. Poured into an imperial pint. Poured a gold/orange color with a two finger whitish head. Aroma is of citrus hops and unripe fruits. Flavor was malty and yeasty with a bitter aftertaste that lingered for a while. Medium body with good carbonation. Enjoyable.
