junon (210), Honolulu, Hawaii, USA Aug 4, 2008 Phew. Bitter indeed. Lovely. Rogue’s solid left hook. Aroma and flavor compliment each other perfectly. This should put a smile on even the most pretentious beer snobs from Belgium. hiphop (84), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 4, 2008 I wish they stocked more of this at the LCBO when they released it. I was late, but Mondy got a bunch. I drank a few too many of his on my birthday and he wasn’t having it. I poured it into the wrong glasswear and still enjoyed every last drop. It was around the time I began to discover American craft beer, and darnit was is good RunDWP (203), San Jose, California, USA Aug 3, 2008 22 oz bottle. Maybe a slight floral aroma. Murky brown color. Biscuit like, with bitter hops, with maybe some floral notes. Has a light, airy taste for all that bitterness. This grew on me the more I drank it. I’m not a fan of overpowering bitter beers, but ended up liking this. Nice change of pace. timsilvia32 (445), from Michigan now in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Aug 2, 2008 Amber pour, sizeable white head. Slightly aromatic hop nose. Malt/hops duke it out, hops end up winning just barely. Nice carbonation. Does remind me a bit of an English ESB, with slightly more hopping. Pretty good. tagz (334), USA Jul 28, 2008 bottle. hazy light orange with fluffy white head that lasts. not much in the aroma department, some light acidic scent but i can’t place it. good balance between malt and gritty bitter hop. mildly fruity notes and there is a slight american hop element in there, but the earthy bitter is dominant. finishes dry. good stuff. KimJohansen (6676), Copenhagen V, Denmark Jul 20, 2008 Clear amber with huge off hite head. Failry sweet aroma with fruity and mild hoppy notes. Flavor likewise with a mild bitter end. undsioux7 (553), Cologne, Minnesota, USA Jul 19, 2008 Pours a cloudy amber/orange with a small off white head that completely dissapates. What a nice change of pace for aroma. The European malts and crystal hops make a nice mix. The ESB flavor is there, but the american hops meld nicely with grapefruit and pine. uhclem (188), Loveland, Colorado, USA Jul 19, 2008 Pours a dark hazy orange. Off-white head quickly subsides. Decent lacing. Nose was a very slight citrus/pine. Taste is pine and grapefruit. Nice mouthfeel but a little thin. Finish definitely lets you know you’re drinking a bitter ale.
