Commercial Description:
Brutal combines Oregon hops with English Malts. The Oregon grown Crystal hop is a triploid variety developed from the German Hallertau aroma hop variety with contributions from Cascade, Brewers Gold, and Early Green. Crystal is the only hop used in brewing Brutal and it provides a massive amount of aroma without dry-hopping. The English malts used are floor malted Pipkin (a mellow cross of Maris Otter and Warboys, from an English company called Beeston), Cara Vienna and Cara Wheat.

Lightly hazy orange pour with a big foamy off-white head. Aroma of grapefruit, lemon, hops and a touch of sour apple. Nice first flavor of sweet malt giving away to citrus hops. Long bitter finish, with a touch of garden-hose water flavor. Other than that, a good hoppy brew.

22 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy orange with a huge and off-white head. Mild woody and solid grape/orangefruit aroma. Flavour starts sweet with a nice caramel malt base and quickly being complimented with a nice orange and grapefruit hops flavour. Gains a light liqourice note towards the finish. Finish is dry and solid bitter with a continued lingering fruit flavour.

Bottle. Very pretty pour - orange-amber and slightly cloudy with a medium-large frothy, off-white head. Moderate lemon-lime hops on the nose. Candied citrus rind and toasty malt flavors accompany a lovely, smooth mouthfeel. The hops linger, but this is not an over-hopped ESB/IPA and doesn’t have the mouth-puckering astringency on the finish like some more aggressive beers in that category. I really like this beer.

A beer from Rogue, ive been wanting to try for a long time. pours an orangeish colour with a large white head. A very citrusy character, plentiful hop flavor and various fruits in the mouthfeel. Grapefruit, lemon and pear to name a few. Aromas also with citrus fruit, grapefruit ecspecially. A very full mouthfeel, not overly hoppy but enough to satisfy me. nice beer!

seems more like an IPA than an ESB but whatever. crisp with citrus hop notes and mild caramel flavor. lingering hops taste good in my mouth

Chestnut brown; lively short-lived head. Maris otter! So refreshing to have a hoppy beer that doesn’t go overboard. I need more bitters in my life. Only downside was that it didn’t help much in the way of studying for finals.

This beer is really a hop-lovers beer. The aroma is overpowering with fresh, leafy hops and the flavor follows through, a spicy, resiny hop flavor and finish. Really a nice beer.

Bottle. Nice head with good duration. Color is amber. Aroma and taste are rich with hops and flowers. Good long bitter finish.
