Commercial Description:
Brutal combines Oregon hops with English Malts. The Oregon grown Crystal hop is a triploid variety developed from the German Hallertau aroma hop variety with contributions from Cascade, Brewers Gold, and Early Green. Crystal is the only hop used in brewing Brutal and it provides a massive amount of aroma without dry-hopping. The English malts used are floor malted Pipkin (a mellow cross of Maris Otter and Warboys, from an English company called Beeston), Cara Vienna and Cara Wheat.

Light orange color with medium white head and no lacing. Aroma and flavor are light with nice hop flavor. Subtle flavor is good and refreshing, easy to drink

This is from a 22oz bomber, which upon opening spewed like I had shaken the bottle, but it had been sitting for a few days. The rising foam had a metallic taste from the bottle. Contrary to the start, the rest of the beer was very enjoyable. It poured a hazy rust with two fingers of white foam that went away after about 30 seconds. I love the opaque color. Aroma reminds me of a candied fruit that I tried one Christmas, but I dont know what it is, certainly citrusy. There is an up front burnt malty taste, a bit of coffee, but that dissipates quickly and is replaced by a wonderful hoppy bitterness that is long lasting. This beer really hit the spot.

Bottle. Really small white head. Hazy yellow/orange color. Flavor is bitter but at the same time sweet. Not impressed.

Bottle @ Beer Palace, Oslo. Low coarse off-white head. Body is foggy golden brown. Light bready malt aroma with a scent of lemony hops. Taste has a quite harsh bitterness and a light sourish malt profile, probably since this is an old bottle past its prime... Well-bodied. Bitter ending. Re-rate pending.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a dark, murky orange, decent off white head fading at an average rate. Aroma is citrusy, but the hops steal the show. Flavor is - as to be expected from a bitter beer - wonderfully bitter. Hops are there, and they want you to know it from the time it hits your tongue to well after you finish. Fantastic beer all around.

Pours a cloudy dark orange, with about two fingers of frothy off-white head. A smooth citrus aroma. Really interesting complexity to the flavor. Starts off with a soft sweat citrus tone that morphs as the hop bitterness begins to shine through. A really good beer- probably the best Rogue I’ve had yet!

Medium offwhite head. Hazy orange body. Firm sweet malty aroma with resiny hop background and toffee notes. Dry-sweet deep malty taste with a powerful resiny citric hop complement. Balanced and powerful. Dry dandelion pine needle and resin hop aftertaste with lemony notes. Very nice and highly drinkable. (0.355l bottle, Beer Palace, Oslo. Tasted like it was a bit old. Should rerate.)
