Commercial Description:
Brutal combines Oregon hops with English Malts. The Oregon grown Crystal hop is a triploid variety developed from the German Hallertau aroma hop variety with contributions from Cascade, Brewers Gold, and Early Green. Crystal is the only hop used in brewing Brutal and it provides a massive amount of aroma without dry-hopping. The English malts used are floor malted Pipkin (a mellow cross of Maris Otter and Warboys, from an English company called Beeston), Cara Vienna and Cara Wheat.

Aroma of grapefruit, spice, and minimal floral hints. Pours a gigantic head that laces nicely. Easy to drink and enjoy. They stock this a tiny liqour store in Tampa called PJ’s. This one comes in handy when trying to buy a craft beer at say 2AM. For that, Brutal Bitter, and PJ’s you remain a fantastic option.

frothy head, ok lacing, beer has dark caramel coloration. aroma has hops and some citrus and spices. very tasty, great drinkability- could drink a lot of these. flavor is nothing complex, but has nice hops, malt, and grapefruit tones. a little light on the palate, but a good beer overall.

Pours like a hazy pale ale with 1 finger head. Aroma of hops and spice. This is unbelievable drinkable. Nice balance of hops and malt, but a bit of a lack of flavor and a bit too thin for my tastes. A great session bitter, but nothing too special

Pours a very murky orange color topped with a somewhat thin head. Kind of looks like this could be pond water. Nice hoppy, citrus (grapefruit?) aroma. Pretty good beer but not nearly as hoppy or as bitter as I was expecting, based on it’s name, some other reviews and I guess my anticipation. It’s actually a pretty easy drinking brew; a bit hoppy, a malty note followed by a bitter dry finish. Aftertaste is only slightly bitter. Overall pretty solid although a tad expensive, but I’m not sure I’d call it "Brutal Bitter".

LCBO bottle. Glowing bubbly orange with foamy white head. Earthy hop aroma. Great blend of malts and hops with a bitter after-taste. Very inconsistent bottles though. I seem to like it, then not like it, then like it again. The bad ones only get drinkable during the second pour as it warms up. As I write this, I am having the best one I’ve tried (good right from the start) but some have been too too bitter harsh or maybe it’s just me.

Drank from bottle. Aroma was floral and hoppy. Flavor was like biting into a whole bouquet of hops. Thats pretty much all there is here. If you like hops, go for it. Otherwise....I wouldn’t recommend. Way too hoppy for me. Maybe I’m not experienced enough for it, but with a rating as high as it gets, it certainly disappoints me.

nice orange glow, good hoppiness, lingering bitter on the aftertaste. While you are drinking the beer was quite enjoyable however I wasn’t too keen on the finish which was definitely long but not to my liking. Still a decent brew

Poured from bottle with a fluffy white head. Smells of hops with some citrus scents. Flavor has strong hoppiness for a bitter. Finishes with a slightly tart or sour flavor.
