Commercial Description:
Brutal combines Oregon hops with English Malts. The Oregon grown Crystal hop is a triploid variety developed from the German Hallertau aroma hop variety with contributions from Cascade, Brewers Gold, and Early Green. Crystal is the only hop used in brewing Brutal and it provides a massive amount of aroma without dry-hopping. The English malts used are floor malted Pipkin (a mellow cross of Maris Otter and Warboys, from an English company called Beeston), Cara Vienna and Cara Wheat.

Bronze amber, somewhat cloudy. Little head. Easy bitterness wafts off the glass with a light floral quality. This leads to an easy, one note hop flavor with a light bitterness. Just okay. Quite a disappointment given its high rating.

650mL bottle from the LCBO. Pours a cloudy orange with a two-finger white head. Aroma is delightfully citrussy and has a note of soap. Flavour has notes of peach, nicely bitter. Nice level of carbonation. Excellent beer.

What a fine lookin beer! A glowing orange copper with a dense, rocky head. Aroma is citrus-like. The flavour is just a perfect balance of hops and malts, in fact I might prefer this to any ipa I’ve had...nicely done.

22 oz. bomber. light copper pour with a white head. Smells an awful lot like a IIPA...citrus and floral notes. This is a bitter beer as the name suggests, but more of a malty, earthy brew. Hints of pear, grapefruit and a good hop/malt balance. This is the first premium bitter/esb ive tried, and I like it. Pretty good.

Une couleur jaune ambré, un collet mince qui s’efface ou presque asser rapidement. Coté arome, odeur d’alcool, sel, soupcon de poire petit coté surette. Agréable en bouche avec un coté sucré ,camarel et cremeux.

Hazy orange poor with a thick sticky off-white head. Aromas of caramel, alcohol, creme brule, passion fruit, oranges, citrus with floral notes. Fruity bitter explosion... very balanced, perfectly sweet and a nice hoppy long lasting bitter bite. Creamy, velvetty mouthfeel with a medium - full body. Flavors are very fruity and added caramel. Surprisingly very good!

Golden with a high and dense lacing head. Perfumed and hoppy aroma with flavours of citrus, lime and grape that really kicks in towards the end! Excellent bitter!

copper pour, slight, nicely lacey head. bitter and hoppy nose (maybe some pencil shavings and whispers of bourbon). flavor is bitter citrus hops, and mellow caramel undertones. full-bodied, bubbly and bitter finish. very enjoyable and suprisingly hopped esb. well done!
