Commercial Description:
Brutal combines Oregon hops with English Malts. The Oregon grown Crystal hop is a triploid variety developed from the German Hallertau aroma hop variety with contributions from Cascade, Brewers Gold, and Early Green. Crystal is the only hop used in brewing Brutal and it provides a massive amount of aroma without dry-hopping. The English malts used are floor malted Pipkin (a mellow cross of Maris Otter and Warboys, from an English company called Beeston), Cara Vienna and Cara Wheat.

Poured a beautiful orange. Very cloudy. Small head with very fine lacing. Taste wasn’t as "Brutal" or "Bitter" as I expected, but surprisingly tasty. I finished the glass before I even realized it. I highly recommend this ale and will be purchasing it again sooner than later.

Pours with a glowing orange color and a beige head atop. Very pleasant nose with an apricot fruitiness and sweet juicy hoppiness about it. Taste is mild apricot and fruity, and more hoppy than expected for the style, but very welcomed as it makes this a fantastic ESB. Very drinkable and suprisingly good despite a quick finish. Easily one of Rogues best beers in my opinion.

Poured a haze with small head. I remember this one, I was expecting it to be more brutal and bitter than it actually was. Let me down, overall still decent

Bottle. At Bishop´s Arms, Avenyn, Gothenburg. Cloudy, hazy orange color with an off-white head. Aroma: Very hoppy and sweet. Notes of exotic fruits, apricot, grape and pine. Flavor: Sweet and fruity at first, then hoppy and dry. Notes of exotic fruits, apricot, citrus, pine, caramel and soap. Chewy and dry mouthfeel. A bit unbalanced, but a must try if you like hops.

12 oz bottle at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Hazy orange brown color with small head. Sweetish caramelly aroma with tobacco like dry hops. Bittersweet flavor with herbal and lemony hops, some toasty and caramelly notes as well as some soapy notes.

Sweet fruity aroma, copper/amber in color, not much head. Gorgeous taste! Great balance, lively citrus flavor (almost grapefruit-like) with a little bit of caramel. Nice bitter hoppy finish. nothing brutal about it. I can’t think of a better ESB I’ve had.

Really nice. I was surprised. Nice citrus hoppy flavor and mega floral aroma. Low alcohol and perfect drinkability. Very good. Can’t wait to have another!

12 oz bottle pours a hazy orange. Aroma is grassy hops. Flavor of a little malt and lots of bitter hops. Nothing overwhelming just a nice balance.
