ajm (902), Los Angeles, California, USA Jan 1, 2008 I think this is lovely. The alcohol is not as prominent as with AleSmith Anvil; definitely a sweeter, smoother version of the best ESB you’ve ever had. For me, the best ESB I’ve ever had. Caramel, fruit, malt, booyah. jameswolfe (141), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Dec 30, 2007 I drank this right after a two-hearted ale, so maybe it didnt taste as bitter to me as it would have. But it does have a wonderful hop aroma and a bitter finish. I need to try this one again. mabel (2530), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 30, 2007 [777-20071020] Bottle. Woody malt aroma with floral sweet honey notes. Hazy, orange brown body with a big medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Bitter malty wood flavour base has a bit of tangy citrus and a hint of sweetness. Medium body. Nice blend, nice hoppy tang. Aroma – Nice English malt with a slight bitter hops in the nose.
Appearance – Light Brown color, Nice head and clear.
Flavor – A malty flavor with a light hops in the back. This was a very nice English bitter.
Palate – Nice Mouthfeel, good texture with a dry finish.
Overall – A English Bitter with a good dry feel and a nice flavor of hops.
tmongoose (39), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Dec 22, 2007 i guess i expected more based on the name alone. its a nice amber color with lasting head the first taste took me by surprise i thought it would be bitter or hoppy even but its a mellow taste which is not bad at all. little after taste. actually its a great blend and one i would drink another of. would like to try in draft next time. fredjaz (108), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Dec 20, 2007 Considering the name its surprising that this beer is only moderately bitter. Other than that it isnt half bad, tastes pretty good but not what I expected. Aroma more fruity and malty than hops. raiderfost (158), virginia beach, Virginia, USA Dec 20, 2007 Pours a hazy dark copper with a nice thick sponge like head. Very smooth. Nice ESB but im not getting the "brutal" part. Thanks Fredjaz JHunter (242), British Columbia, Canada Dec 19, 2007 Pours a dark copper colour with a nice frothy head. hoppy aroma with hints of furit.
