Nihon (239), Vernon, Connecticut, USA Nov 25, 2007 Cloudy pale ruby red, sweet hoppy almost grapefruity aroma. Very smooth, medium bodied. Nice ESB. AgentSteve (1334), SF Bay Area, California, USA Nov 17, 2007 On tap @ the Rogue Ale House. Great brew with a nice balance of bitter hops and a touch of malt. The flavor was very smooth, with a clean finish. Very nice. wetherel (1565), Encinitas, California, USA Nov 17, 2007 On tap at Stone. Two finger small bubble head that dies to a 1mm thick creamy layer climbing up the sides of the glass. Light orange amber color. Mild musty aroma from cleaning of the glass. Medium bitterness. Medium body. Leans a little dry. chicagodri (1021), Chicago, Illinois, USA Nov 16, 2007 This beer smells great, but that is about it. The beer is average. I used to love Rogue but they seem so main stream now. I don’t know what is brutal about the beer because it seems almost like a regular amber. zethca (62), West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 14, 2007 Bottle. Pale yellow pour. Nice foamy head with solid lacing. One of my first ESBs, pretty satisfying although nothing brutal about the bitterness here. thomat (666), Göteborg, Sweden Nov 8, 2007 Amber with athick white head. Tones of nuts and fruit. Malty & bitter. Medium body with a dry finish. Not brutal at all ! drfabulous (1212), Columbia, Missouri, USA Nov 5, 2007 Flat. Pale yellow. Hardly worthy of ESB. Another Rogue let down. Maybe I should revisit. But I will probably not change my mind by much. amee16 (62), Valparaiso, Indiana, USA Nov 2, 2007 pours a hazy yellow with a thick foamy head and lots of lacing. Aroma is floral and sweet. he flavor is wonderfully bitter, nipping at the edges of the tongue. Hoppy with a light sweetness. So good after a long day at work...
