joverton85 (80), Burnsville, Minnesota, USA Nov 2, 2007 hazy golden body. very attractive look. great hop aroma, very sweet. hop flavor on the tongue mellows out as it goes down with a smooth finish. Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA Nov 1, 2007 On tap at Green Dragon Beer NW party--In pour light, appeared to be a deep amber-copper color. Well-sustained creamy head. Big hoppy sweet floral nose. Caramelly and malty with a prevalent citrusness. English malts made it somewhat reminiscent of TG IPA, but not as abbrasive. Yum alcrist (3), Silver Lake, Indiana, USA does not count Oct 29, 2007 Can’t figure out what’s "brutal" here. 12 oz. bottle in pint glass. Decent head w/ little lacing and typical amber color of a bitter. Not much aroma and flavor is OK but nothing special. I usually expect more from Rogue. Probably won’t bother with this one again. malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA Oct 29, 2007 12 ounce bottle in pint glass. Hazy yellow-gold with lasting flat head. Mild hoppy aroma with citrus and yeast. Well-balanced flavor with nice honeyish malt character and equal balanced bitterness. Medium-full body and medium carbonation. Not nearly as brutal or as bitter as I remember. In fact, pretty damn tasty. greenhorn1 (458), Mission Viejo, California, USA Oct 27, 2007 22 oz bottle. Pours copper with a big airy head. Aroma does remind me of a german pilsner, must be the German hops. Fruity flavor with some maltiness. Medium mouthfeel, dry finish. and a lasting bitter and caramel finish. Not my favorite style of beer, but this was pretty good. TURDFERGUSON (1594), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA Oct 24, 2007 Bottle from TJ’s. Trying to get around to rating some of the beers I started my career with. Muddy, orangish tan with thin white lace. Aroma is slighty hoppy with a nice malt character. Flavor is dead-on for the best esb’s I’ve had. Slightly hoppy with a nice bitter finish amidst and slightly thick body. Alcohol well hidden, and a nice bitter, hoppy finish. Hops aren’t overdone so much to make this an ipa like some esb’s are. Rogue’s best non-stout in my opinion. ghostmonkey (182), budd lake, New Jersey, USA Oct 24, 2007 22 oz bottle . .pours cloudy copper with a creamy white head . . aroma is citrus, grapefruit, pine, hops . . taste is smooth, sweet hops flavor, caramel, honey, finishes sweet and delicious . . i really enjoyed this beer. fattibobatti (246), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Oct 24, 2007 liquorloft tallahassee. my taste was waaaay off base by the time i got to this thanks to an imperial porter but what i recall was what is typical of the style. light citrus hops and malt in the aroma. taste a ditto of the smell, light sweet malt and hops with a simple lingering bitterness. i did like the smooth feel of the beer over my tongue.
