Commercial Description:
Brutal combines Oregon hops with English Malts. The Oregon grown Crystal hop is a triploid variety developed from the German Hallertau aroma hop variety with contributions from Cascade, Brewers Gold, and Early Green. Crystal is the only hop used in brewing Brutal and it provides a massive amount of aroma without dry-hopping. The English malts used are floor malted Pipkin (a mellow cross of Maris Otter and Warboys, from an English company called Beeston), Cara Vienna and Cara Wheat.

Prett good tastes like a caramely IPA but with an increase in bitterness. My only complaint is how harsh it is on the throat and palate which makes it hard to drink.

22oz bottle. Pours a hazy, orangish-amber color; textured, off-white head with excellent retention and lacing. Light, hoppy aroma, showing citrus and oranges; some biscuity malts as well. Medium mouthfeel: lively citrus and bitter hops with something of an English character (but tempered bitterness); relaxed carbonation, with a solid biscuity / toasted malt core; dense and well-balanced; very drinkable. Medium, biscuity and bready malt finish; slightly dry.

bottle. above average, off-white, creamy head with good lacing present. cloudy orange body. citrus hops, light floral hops, and some caramel were all noticed in the aroma. Moderately bitter throughout. Dry texture. Thin mouthfeel. Average length on finish duration. Overall good stuff, very drinkable.

Bottle. Pours hazy copper with moderate off-white head. Aroma is malty and grainy like multigrain bread along with some light berry fruitiness. Flavor is slightly grassy with a touch of piney bitter hops. Solid and complex malt background- toffee, caramel, some bannana and pear. Finish is sticky pine resin, lingering bitterness. Very full smooth palate. Actually better than most ESBs I’ve had in England.

one dimensional. a monster brew for a true bitters imbiber. short finish, this has a nice power grapefruit hit. dark orange coppery brew this is a hop heads elixer (as well). scores extra as a truly mother of a bitter. low enough alcohol content underscores the inventiveness of the flavor. it is not a very good bitter as i see around me now. this will be the beginning of great bitters yet to come!

(bottle 22 cl) Hazy orange body, medium off-white head. The nose is full and alive with flowers, sweet citrus, and fresh hops. Very pleasant. Flavor is slightly sweet, grapefruit, and lots of hops all the way through. It may be a lot of hops but it is balanced and smooth. The hops do kick in a little extra in the finish, though.
