kevd193213 (477), Hope Valley, Rhode Island, USA Apr 16, 2007 After hearing so much about this I was ready for a letdown. Nope. Golden orange hazy pour. Aroma of citrus and sugar, almost like bubble gum. Nice hoppy taste with a sweet caramel finish. jblendy (518), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA Apr 13, 2007 Pours hazy yellowish orange with a huge seafoamy off-white head. Soapy, citric hop aroma. Flavor is the same with a malt background that only contributes to body. Palate is medium, lightly bitter, and a bit watery. Nice hop bitterness, but really nothing else going on. TheBeerBaron (218), Florida, USA Apr 8, 2007 Bottle. Cloudy gold color, a fair amount of bubbles rising. Small head that dissapated quickly. A pine like smell with sweet honey hitting you after the initial grass aroma. Thick and flat on the palate like a heavy gravity beer. Despite the statement, this ESB is no more "brutal" than most of the craft IPA’s I have tried in my drinking lifetime. The only thing bitter was the fresh cut lawn taste. In the future I’ll pass on this one. RobBestwick (555), Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England Apr 7, 2007 From 650ml bottle. Fruity, orange, malty, and caramel aroma. Pours with a cloudy orange/bronze colour. Big, frothy white head. Orange, lime, very bitter, hints of nuttiness. A sharp, bitter finish. carl4beer (394), Fairfax Station, Virginia, USA Apr 7, 2007 pours a clear amber until the sediment clouded it up, nice foamy head. has a earthy bitter aroma. crisp mouthful with a nice bitter bite. has a very flat edge that linger a bit. Wolfenstein (96), Sarasota, Florida, USA Apr 6, 2007 Orange, hazy/cloudy appearance. Organic-sprucelike, citrusy hop aroma. Big hop bite with citrus, grapefruit, grassy, very bitter taste. luv2brew (177), Chesterfield, Virginia, USA Apr 6, 2007 Pours with an off-white head and the nose is of bitter orange peel. This is a strong bitter. Just the right amount of maltiness. It actually mellows through the middle, but explodes with bitterness at the end. It has a orange like bitterness. I would buy this one again. Aegrus (49), USA Apr 2, 2007 Bottle. Shaker. I love this beer, so bias is something to overcome. I will make an attempt. Quickly disiintegrating head upon a cloudy orange/gold haze. Highly hopped and sweet malt aroma is balanced by equal cascade hops and sweet barley malt. Lingering bitterness that is very pleasant. Far from brutal (such as snakebite from Flying Dog), but is very enjoyable. Recommended.
