twitcher (293), framingham, Massachusetts, USA May 19, 2009 bottle.
Pours a lightly hazed bright orange color with a big inch of pillowy, chunky head that lasts and lasts, lacing the hell out of the glass. Aromas of some light but sharp spice, smooth floral notes, and some light biscuity malt notes. Flavor starts with a sharp but tame floral bitterness. Hop character shows in more mellow floral flavors, some light citric lemons. Dry, semi sweet malt backbone stays solid throughout. Palate is light and clean, plenty of flavor without being at all heavy. Lightly bitter finish. Overall- I’ve always really enjoyed this brew, but until putting numbers to it, I didn’t realize quite how highly I think of this one! Ober (1165), Bommelerwaard, Netherlands May 18, 2009 A little hazy dark golden colored beer, with a thick fast off white head. The aroma is hoppy bitter, with fruits like grapes. The taste is sparkling, with bitters and fruits, grapes with some orange. A little spices in the back. The aftertaste is bitter in a pleasant way with some notes of sweet. benself (11), gardendale, Alabama, USA May 18, 2009 This beer has a very high IBU count, but is still very sessionable. It has a big bitter punch right up front, and a nice dry palate. Mouthfeel is somewhat oily, but by no means unpleasant. Spab (236), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 16, 2009 650 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a hazy orange gold with moderate (very slightly) off white head. Citrus hops prominent in nose with subtle maltiness. Citrus similarly strong in flavour with decent balancing from malts. Fine carbonation and long hoppy finish, though not actually overwhelmingly bitter. Very nice. WVHouseofBeer (339), Morgantown, West Virginia, USA May 14, 2009 Updated: Jul 29, 2009Poured a very nice orange color with an off-white head. Aromas of floral hops. The bitter hops are strong but not overpowering, and it makes for a really good beer. harbuck76 (127), El Cajon, California, USA May 13, 2009 On Tap At San Diego Brewing. Pours a nice amber with average white head. aroma is carmel malts with some floral notes. Its been a few years since i had this one, and i almost forgot how good it was. Nothing brutal about it . finishes dry and bitter with a perfect sweet malt backbone. This would be a perfect session beer except for the price. snuffla (95), Chch, New Zealand May 12, 2009 Loads of toffee sweetness on the nose with a floral edge from the hops. Not as much as aroma from the hops as i expect but a very pleasant aroma all the same.
In the mouth it starts sweet, with almost honey richness from the malt then explodes with a bitter grenade into an awesome long bitter finish with floral notes.
