| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 4, 2009 Pours a hazy, copper color with an average, white, pillowy, fluffy head which is mostly lasting but leaves minimal lace. Nose is fairly simple but enjoyable; most notably is grapefruit, white pepper, light orange peel, and hints at herbal hops, mint, and sweet breads. Flavor is similar with more of a malt presence than the nose; moderate caramel sweetness, moderate bitterness, light sweet breads, some hints at rustic and mint cascade notes, light pepper, and faint orange peel. Palate is medium, lightly oily, and lively. Finishes more bitter than sweet with the light rustic notes, orange peel, and pepper lingering. A unique American ESB with some characteristics of both. Very drinkable and balanced by nice hop flavors, nice bitterness, and some malts. Nice offering from Rogue. ChrisThomson (390), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Good floral hops aroma with a hint of vanilla. A good bitter, but not much else going on. A surprisingly clear finish. drpimento (809), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | May 31, 2009 Watch out Brits, Rogue’s giving you a run for your money with this beer! If they had this on a beer engine, it would be an example of divinity on earth. Poured with a creamy, yet frothy and foamy off-white head that lasts forever with loads of lace. Color is an amber hued copper. Aroma is very malty caramel with lots of hop in a mix of British and American hop fragrances. Enticing! Flavor is vedy, vedy British with perfectly complimentary American flavs - rich malt, toffee, caramel, hops, bittersweet. a slight bit toasty. Body is to die for: full yet not too heavy. Finish is just right so you want to have another sip. Session beer extraordinaire. yesyouam (589), Fairport, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 31, 2009 Rogue Brutal Bitter is a cloudy, deep golden beer with a dense, yellowish, off-white head with outstanding retention and lacing. It has a bright, hoppy aroma of citrus and grass and a note of dusty malt. It is medium bodied, smooth, dry and clean. It’s reasonably bitter (not brutal) with a lot of complex malt flavors. It’s toasty and resiny-- lots going on in there. There’s a note of lemon at the finish. It’s a solid ale. tilldeath (74), Arvada, Colorado, USA

Robe orangée, légèrement trouble. Peu de mousse et carbonation moyenne. Bien maltée, on retrouve des notes de caramel et de pain qui sont accompagnés d’un houblon aux notes d’agrumes. Finale moyennement amère.
