Commercial Description:
Brutal combines Oregon hops with English Malts. The Oregon grown Crystal hop is a triploid variety developed from the German Hallertau aroma hop variety with contributions from Cascade, Brewers Gold, and Early Green. Crystal is the only hop used in brewing Brutal and it provides a massive amount of aroma without dry-hopping. The English malts used are floor malted Pipkin (a mellow cross of Maris Otter and Warboys, from an English company called Beeston), Cara Vienna and Cara Wheat.

Bottled. Hazy orange. Big American Style hoppy nose, like an APA. Flavour is nutty, with hints of citrus. Finish is brutal bitter.

Bottle poured a cloudy golden amber with a small offwhite head. Aromas of pine, carmel, orange and bread. Palate was smooth,a little resiny and dry. Flavors of bitter orange peel , pine, bread and a hint of carmel.

Bottle. Pours a hazy amber with a small somewhat lasting foamy off-white head. Wonderful aroma of citrus hops, pine and enough caramel malt to balance things out. Juicy flavour follows the aroma and is very well balanced though not as bitter as the name would suggest. Medium bodied. A simple beer but a joy to drink, it’s so flavourful. Definitely one of the better ESBs and a great session beer.

Bottle. Pours a hazy and murky orange-copper, almost like a harvest moon, with a small fizzy white head that becomes a patchy rocky film shortly. Fragrant floral fruit and citrus hop combined aroma with a lightly roasted caramel sweet malt (cookie) background. Flavor is heavily bitter and sour citrus rind hop with a light acidity and caramel malt body. Medium bodied and fizzy palate, goes a tad dry but very drinkable and refreshing. Lives up to its name in a pleasant and inviting way.

Bottle at Beer Palace, Oslo. Cloudy amber, strong hoppy aroma. Well balanced - full malty body, flowery and crisp hops. Dry summer meadow finish. Brutal? Hardly, but a fine beer.

Draft. Hoppy, floral aroma. Poured kinda flat for my liking. Nice citrus taste. Nice and bitter. The bottle though pours with a nice head and is more bitter.
