| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 22, 2004 hazy dark khaki color with a fat cream colored head. floral hop aroma strong bitter, and i can see how some would call it brutal, and i’m all for truth in advertising. this is bitter, but drinkable a bit acidic with a much milder finish, a well done one sided beer. tronraner (1916), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 20, 2006 Bottle. Pours cloudy orange with a small white head. The aroma is muffins and resiny pine. Flavor is very bready with lemon, pine, and molasses kicks. There are lots of subtle organic notes, too. The finish is sweet, but leaves a kind of lingering bitterness. Rich caramel comes out as it warms. altonbrownd (1913), Amsterdam, Netherlands
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 13, 2009 Bottle from Cracked Kettle. Amber body with nice, rocky head. Super hopped up nose. Taste of hops and pine. Prickly texture. But smooth. Warming. With a hoppy finish. Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 3, 2008 Bomber. Lightly hazed orange amber with a thick off white head. Thich sheet of lace. Grapefruit and, to a lesser extent, orange nose. There is some caramel malt sweet behind it, but it’s the overwhelming citrus that is in your face. The malt makes a much stronger showing in the flavor which is, of course, "brutally" bitter, but more balanced than one would expect - the malt sweetness holds it’s own against the hop assault. Still, a bit of a one trick pony - it just happens to be a pretty damn good trick. Long bitter finish. Nice, and, as all Rogues not encased in ceramic, a good bargain. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 7, 2009 On tap @ Coles, Buffalo NY. Golden Orange color with nice head. Nice strong bitter aroma, citrusy & caramel malts. Hop forward taste, sweet malts, well balanced. Damn good beer frankenkitty (1902), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 21, 2006 Pours a thick-hazed copper/orange with some settling sediment and a creamy, 2-finger, off-white head that laces in sheets. Sweetbread aroma with lemon almost comes off as a cookie dough. Thick bodied with lingering lemon notes. Bitter tea flavor with a touch of honey and slight berry tartness. Brutal in the sense that the IBUs are stronger than an ESB normally suggests, but (and this will disappoint some folks) the hop content is by no means overwhelming. A very good beer with a misleading name.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 30, 2007 Amber color, nice white head. Aroma is piney hops, light citrus. Aroma is much like an IPA. Taste is fairly bitter, moreso then expected, light caramel. Really seems like an IPA rather then a bitter.
