| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 21, 2006 Pours a thick-hazed copper/orange with some settling sediment and a creamy, 2-finger, off-white head that laces in sheets. Sweetbread aroma with lemon almost comes off as a cookie dough. Thick bodied with lingering lemon notes. Bitter tea flavor with a touch of honey and slight berry tartness. Brutal in the sense that the IBUs are stronger than an ESB normally suggests, but (and this will disappoint some folks) the hop content is by no means overwhelming. A very good beer with a misleading name.

| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Aug 13, 2003 Updated: Dec 3, 2004An OK bitter. It attempts to be a hybrid between an American Bitter (IPA) and an English ESB, but it does not quite cut it. An average sized off-white head sits on top of a nice orange hazy (unfiltered) body. Aromas are mainly citrusy/earthy hops with a hint of malt. Hops dominate the palate. Bitter and fruity. Not very balanced. Full bodied with a creamy texture and lively carbonation. Bitterness is much like an American IPA. I would like a wee more malt backing the hops up. [Update] - The warmer the beer gets the more I think that my bottle might be slightly skunked. Sour flavors and aromas are really start to come out as it warms. Will have to try this one again. emacgee (1888), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 22, 2006 Pours a hazy amber brew with some orangeish highlights. The head is medium and off white. The aroma was very impressive. A veritable bouquet. Noticeable fruit aroma. Obvious hop. The flavor was very sharp and dry. Tasted dry hop, alcohol, and mixed citrus. The palate was slightly harsh from the hops and alochol and the finish was fairly bitter. Beerdedone (1885), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 25, 2005 appears hazy amber, with a nice head, smells great very spicey, the taste almost like lemon iced tea, good hops, somewhat bitter, very drinkable, and truely brutal. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 20, 2003 Masive hops overload, while maintaining a caramelly taste. Bitter to no end, but enjoyable and not done in a gimmicky sort of fashion, just a beer for the hopheads. Cascade all day long! marcus (1874), Sacramento, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 16, 2005 This cloudy maple-colored ale poured with a modest off-white head that dissipated quickly. There was a faint wheat aroma and a full flavor, with cheek-puckering bitterness. A very nice brew.
