| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Mar 14, 2004 Bottle. Pours cloudy orange-amber with a moderate white head that diminished leisurely. Aroma reminds me of a good IPA, sweet caramel malts, lots of citrus hoppiness. Flavor is good, it took me a few sips to really take in the fullness of this brew. It's immediately sweet and bitter at the same time, nicely balanced, though definitely a hop monster. Bracing grapefruit bitterness and a lingering puckering astringency. Medium body and easy carbonation. Not a session ale in my book, definitely one to sip and savor. Dorwart (1828), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA

Nice hoppy citrus aroma with some grapefruit and pine. Hazy dark orange/amber in color. Nice smooth flavor. Very well balanced with a bit of lemon. Crisp flavor. Dry palate with nice lingering bitterness at the finish. A very good ESB from a brewer with a lot of good beers. Nothing fancy just a very good beer. oldrtybastrd (1823), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 18, 2002 Delicious. Bitter up front, then it really settled down into something closer to trad. English for me (yet with the German derived hop variety). These guys are crazy. thornecb (1805), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
