Commercial Description:
Brutal combines Oregon hops with English Malts. The Oregon grown Crystal hop is a triploid variety developed from the German Hallertau aroma hop variety with contributions from Cascade, Brewers Gold, and Early Green. Crystal is the only hop used in brewing Brutal and it provides a massive amount of aroma without dry-hopping. The English malts used are floor malted Pipkin (a mellow cross of Maris Otter and Warboys, from an English company called Beeston), Cara Vienna and Cara Wheat.

On tap, Pizza Plant. Hazy amber, tan head. Full malt prescence offset by some unmistakible Rogue hops. Slightly fruity, leafy hops, toffee flavored malts. Medium to full bodied, slight dryness, bitter finish. Very good.

Hazy amber w/ generous finger of gold foam. Nice lace. Fresh, leafy, fruity hoppy aroma against a background of toffee & caramel. Medium-light feel. Nicely balanced, though surprisingly light flavor w/ a very bitter, lingering finish.

On tap at McGloughlin’s in Kyoto. Aromatic and balanced aroma of hops and caramel malt. the flavor follows it right up. Pine, citrus, fruit. No surprises, just a perfectly done premium bitter. Great on tap.

Pours a nice orange color, that gets quite hazy when the sediment is added. A nice persistant head on top. The aroma is the typical westcoast piney hop aroma. The flavors are quite a bit better. Much more malt than anticipated. Well done. A very nice session beer.

Pours with a nice small head. Lots of hops on the nose. I am kind of glad that this isn’t a ridiculous hop brew, which by the name kind of suggests. Taste is of a nice english ale with a good balance of the hops. Smooth. I thought this would be way over the top, but it is really tasty and easy drinkin’.

Fire orange with medium velvet froth. Full nectar w/ ample residual effers. Flavors of desicated tangerine rind, baryard hay, caramel. Big time bittering. Finish is citrusy bitter w/ slight asprin. Drinks better as it warms.

An excellent selection. I was looking around in a six pack shop and spotted this. Orange copperish in color, resembling honey. Nice rich head and a nice bite to it. A grapefruity hoppy taste. Glad I got this one. Very refreshing for a breezy sunny afternoon.
