Cloudy golden color with a two-finger white head. Aroma is malt and floral hops. Flavor is a nice mix of malts with lots of Crystal hops and citrus notes. Bitter on the finish. Highly drinkable with a smooth palate. BeerBiker (1392), Kathmandu, Nepal

ESB is one of my favorite beers, so this was a wishlist beer. Dark, "roguetaste", of course bitter, soft, sourfruity and with a long nice bitter finish. iwantalambic (1389), St. Louis, Missouri, USA

Piney citrus aroma, remincent of some west coast IPA's, hints of vanilla as well. Taste is surprising: strong banana malt presence sticks to the tongue, while hops cascade over the top. A nice change of pace for a bitter. brewblackhole (1385), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 16, 2004 Nicely balanced malt, hop aroma, bitterness of the hops is dominant in the taste, although the taste is not forceful , a wonderful bitter aftertaste. Stine (1380), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 21, 2007 Pours to a bright orange, aromatics betraying the absurd amounts of Crystal hops in this glass. Green tea, grass, a little honey. Flavor is very English - biscuity and slightly hollow - soaked in hop oil, but not a great breed of hop in my mind. I’ll take a London Pride on the cask if I want this kind of thing. AgentSteve (1379), SF Bay Area, California, USA

Great brew with a nice balance of bitter hops and a touch of malt. The flavor was very smooth, with a clean finish. Very nice. Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA

Pours a beautiful cloudy amber color. I was really impressed with the color on this one. The taste isn’t nearly as brutal as the name implies. Instead it has a nice sweet and citrusy taste to start and a good bitter finish. I really enjoyed this one. HonkeyBra (1376), Lemont, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 1, 2009 Orange pour with a big hoppy aroma mixed with some sweet, spicey malt. Flavor is bitter, but a nice, flavorful bitterness, balanced by the caramel spicy malt. Very smooth. Seems like a great session ale.
