Commercial Description:
Brutal combines Oregon hops with English Malts. The Oregon grown Crystal hop is a triploid variety developed from the German Hallertau aroma hop variety with contributions from Cascade, Brewers Gold, and Early Green. Crystal is the only hop used in brewing Brutal and it provides a massive amount of aroma without dry-hopping. The English malts used are floor malted Pipkin (a mellow cross of Maris Otter and Warboys, from an English company called Beeston), Cara Vienna and Cara Wheat.

650 ml bottle. Cloudy golden amber colour with a thin fizzy and frothy white head. Fruity and caramel aroma. Caramel and bread flavours, slight fruitiness, then a slowly building but lingering fruity and floral bitter finish. Medium to full bodied and juicy.

Lightly hazy orange pour with a big foamy off-white head. Aroma of grapefruit, lemon, hops and a touch of sour apple. Nice first flavor of sweet malt giving away to citrus hops. Long bitter finish, with a touch of garden-hose water flavor. Other than that, a good hoppy brew.

Probably one of the last remants of the NW ESB beers. Since Redhook took the macro plunge this is still a quality beer. A copper colored amber beer with a medium white head. A mix of hop aroma; somewhat citrus somewhat musty. The malts are somewhat sweet fro mthe roasting. A fairly smooth drink to the end.

Still has that cloudy gold colour with ample fluffy off white head. Aroma has a strong hop floral aroma that is dominating over the malts. Flavour is strong with hops and medium bitters handing off the sides of my tongue. The body is a bit weak and moves under the medium to the watery side of things. Old Rating...... Cloudy gold colour. One of the better bitters that I have had. Tastes like how a really good old book smells... if that make any sense to you? Very nice aroma!

Bottle. Pours an unclear golden with a massive creamy off-white head. Beautiful aroma of grapefruit, honeyish malt and pine hop notes. The flavour is grapefruit, citrus, honey, biscuit and pine. Great hoppy bitterness that lingers along with a fruity finish. I could easily sit and enjoy a few of these. Bloody delicious.

Bring it Baby! I’m looking for a Winner tonight!
Nice copper colored body, with a loud tan tower of rocky head. A nose full of caramel malts, but mostly my nostril senses are picking up a plethora of hops, big notes of fresh grapefruit juice and orange zest’s. Refreshing citrusy flavor, nice acidic bitter bite. The malts bring forth a resemblance of baked brie with caramelized brown sugar incrusted atop.
What can I say? This is a tasty and refreshing Bitter; finishes dry, with a big presence of Pine, maybe even a spicy Cedar or Cyprus tree.

22 oz. bottle. Medium copper with a slight chill haze that clears rather quickly. Medium off white head settles after a few minutes to a thin coat of fine bubbles. Citrus hop aroma over a backdrop of malty sweetness. Wonderful mouthfeel and very mild carbonation. Light roasted and caramel malt flavors are punctuated quickly by citrus hops and light bittering. Finish is dry, mildly astringent. Perfectly balanced. A truly enjoyable beer.
