DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 13, 2004 Draft. This one blew me away. Pours dark straw/orangish with a nice head and lace. Aroma of huge hops, fruit, grapefruit, chardonnay, spiciness, and some malt. Tastes hoppy, fruity, with a nice crisp finish. The intense fruitiness and spiciness balanced the hops perfectly. For #700, I give you the 4th perfect score I have ever given. As a caveat, I have not rated, or drank, the bottled version. I had this on draft at the Green Leafe cafe in Williamsburg, and I have no deductions for this one. cbassman (1), Cary, North Carolina, USA does not count Mar 9, 2006 Bottle. Quite hoppy with citrus tones. The quite moderate use of a little wheat makes it a touch cloudy. Probably more of an IPA than a traditional bitter. Starts intense and finishes beautifully. The perfect pale ale for my palate.

John Maier has outdone himself brewing this one!!! dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Aug 11, 2005 Got my nose a little too close to this fabulously smelling beer and inhaled some head, but that was the only downside of drinking this beauty. Hoppy, yet mostly in the start, it develops into a truly wonderful ESB, though it mostly makes me think of IPAs. Spectaculur. eraserhd10 (226), new haven, Connecticut, USA Feb 7, 2005 A chewy, toasty, malty bitter from the geniuses at Rogue! A clean-tasting, no frills bitter with hints of honey and wood. Excellent! wade (58), Decatur, Georgia, USA May 3, 2000 My new favorite beer, but Mocha Porter will always be up there, too. If you love hops, this beer is your best friend. groovinhigh (170), Asheville, North Carolina, USA Oct 12, 2002 Updated: Dec 21, 2003What a brutal beer... Very Hoppy. Along the lines of the Imperial IPA, but a tad maltier. Great Rogue brew!! Admiral (524), Schnecksville, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 8, 2001 Wow. Intense hops, very appropriately bitter and citric, like grapefruit. Malt stays way back, but is present enough, mainly in the texture, to satisfy. And I like the idea of using a single hop variety.
