Commercial Description:
Brutal combines Oregon hops with English Malts. The Oregon grown Crystal hop is a triploid variety developed from the German Hallertau aroma hop variety with contributions from Cascade, Brewers Gold, and Early Green. Crystal is the only hop used in brewing Brutal and it provides a massive amount of aroma without dry-hopping. The English malts used are floor malted Pipkin (a mellow cross of Maris Otter and Warboys, from an English company called Beeston), Cara Vienna and Cara Wheat.

22oz bottle. Pours clear amber in color with foamy white head. Hoppy floral aroma. Taste of grapefruit and lite malt with lite dry finish.

Draught. Poured gold amber with lasting white head. Much lacing. Strong malt flavour with hoppy skin. Lekker citrusy/hoppy finish. Definitely worth seeking out.

Bitter is better. I was repeating that with each sip. Rogue likes to go overboard with the hops and I welcome it wholeheartedly. The hazy orange color and unmistakable hoppy aroma sends one message to the drinker..."pucker up!"

22oz bomber. Pours a deep, somewhat hazy copper with a pillowy off-white head and thick lacing. Nose is piney hops with some biscuity malt. Taste is more hoppy than a traditional ESB, but maltier than a Pale Ale. Mouth-feel is smooth and finish is bitter. So far, my favorite beer from Rogue. Wish I could get this in a 6-pack.

Pours with a glowing orange color and a beige head atop. Very pleasant nose with an apricot fruitiness and sweet juicy hoppiness about it. Taste is mild apricot and fruity, and more hoppy than expected for the style, but very welcomed as it makes this a fantastic ESB. Very drinkable and suprisingly good despite a quick finish. Easily one of Rogues best beers in my opinion.

An unforgettable glass. One of those experiences you remember everything that was going on when you first taste it. I enjoyed the rich flavors and tight aromas

from 650ml bottle. Hazy orange colour with thivk white head. Very floral aroma. Flavor is very complex, a hint of orange. BUt for the most part this beer has lots of hops happening. It is well balanced the hop blend works really well. I think that calling it a "brutal" bitter is a bit of a stretch. I’ve had more bitter.

Very dry and bitter as the name would suggest. Not as bitter as many IPA’s, but sometimes IBU’s don’t matter. Malt often conceals the bitterness of a beer, but while the malt adds flavour to this brew, the hops shine through leaving a completely dry finish and forward flavour.
