Commercial Description:
Brutal combines Oregon hops with English Malts. The Oregon grown Crystal hop is a triploid variety developed from the German Hallertau aroma hop variety with contributions from Cascade, Brewers Gold, and Early Green. Crystal is the only hop used in brewing Brutal and it provides a massive amount of aroma without dry-hopping. The English malts used are floor malted Pipkin (a mellow cross of Maris Otter and Warboys, from an English company called Beeston), Cara Vienna and Cara Wheat.

This is one of my favorites from Rogue. Really nice copper color with so much hops it is unreal. Lots of bitterness, flavor and aroma, which is very surprising considering they only used crystal. Malt is not really in balance but who cares. This beer rules!

From 650ml bottle. Fruity, orange, malty, and caramel aroma. Pours with a cloudy orange/bronze colour. Big, frothy white head. Orange, lime, very bitter, hints of nuttiness. A sharp, bitter finish.

Had this again last night with fish tacos. I had forgotten how great this beer is. I like that it doesn’t try to be an IPA. It tries to take ESB to the next level without blasting your with highter alcohol. It does this wonderfully. Thick, sticky head, piney resin notes all over the place. Body is solid and drinkability: perfect. Anyone bored by bitters or who wants something other than a pale to drink with lighter fare...this is your beer. Huzzah!

Hazy rust-orange color with a thick, dense, creamy head that leaves a decent lace on the glass. Hoppy nose that reminds me of a pale. Lots of fruity flavor (pineapple) that finishes to a tart, sticky bitterness. Slight sourness around the tongue. Has a nice thickness in the mouth. Again, it reminds me of a pale, but hell, it’s good!

New......On cask!!!!!! at Eli Cannon's in Middletown, CT. Surprise, surprise, the color and aroma are the same. I sense a hand pulled beer......hmmmm. Let us ask the waitress if she brought the right beer. .....why....yes! It is a Rogue brutal Bitter hand pulled cask beer. I think I'm ok with dying from this Asian Death Plague now. Brutal bitter on cask, hand pulled. There is a God. Thank you. Bye. I had a couple, can you tell????...............Old........Yee-haw! This stuff is ruff! Hoppier than a lot of IPAs I've had. This beer got me started on bitter beer styles. I owe it so much. Definitely not my idea of a bitter, but it's true to the name. Very complex, even over the hoppiness, and quite drinkable. Tasty looking deep brown. Vey nice finish.

I like the hoppy aroma...mmmmm...hops. Nice and bitter. Beautiful cloudy amber color. For some reason I wasn’t expecting much from this one, but was surprised, pleasantly of course.

Has a nice aged, malty and hoppy balance of aromas. Roasted peaches are the dominant aroma. Beer pours clear and medium amber in color. First taste is spicy, and as it passes to to the back of the mouth the bitter bite takes ahold. Wow, this stuff is fantastic. I enjoy those which try to tear apart my tongue.
