Has a nice lingering bitterness to it. This does have a lot of carbonation to it to. iwantalambic (1389), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Feb 6, 2003 Cloudy orange brown, persistant mosaic head. . . Heavy lace. Piney citrus aroma, remincent of some west coast IPA's, hints of vanilla as well. Taste is surprising: strong banana malt presence sticks to the tongue, while hops cascade over the top. A nice change of pace for a bitter. BückDich (4857), McCall, Idaho, USA

Nose of ripe apricot and grassy hops, extremely rich malts. Very herbal and earthy. Malty caramel body, not too sweet, just the right amount of hops. The body is large but maintains drinkabliliy. This is a tasty beer, wonder why I didn’t like it much before. Why does it seem that just since it says bitter in the name it means that it’s bitter? It’s a brutal (meaning strong) bitter (meaning the lightly hopped british style). This is lighter hopped than most IPAs. Updated on 05/23/05. Old Rating: 3.1 EKGoldings (447), Radford, Virginia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 9, 2008 Pours from the bomber hazy orange with a rich head. Head stays around a long time (you can pour it with no head at all .. but where’s the fun in that). Nice mouthfeel, chewy but the malt is there and the beer is fairly dry. Hops are interesting, citrus, some grassy flavors and muted grapefruit. Alcohol is nicely hidden. Pretty darned good ... I was not sure what the beer would be like given that they’re only using crystal, but in this beer it works pretty well. tkaufman (129), Lewis Center, Ohio, USA

Complex hop aroma and flavor, but still well balanced with malt backbone. Nice creamy head stayed throughout the glass. Velvetty on the palate. Very good brew from a great micro. lemonlovr (187), Lockport, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 7, 2007 Weak aroma, some notes of citrus. Color is hazy gold. Flavor is more like an IPA to me but regardless I like it very much. Sweet and fruity at first with a comforting hoppy finish. Very pleasant overall and I also like the mouthfeel. Leaves me wanting to take another sup. egajdzis (3645), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 5, 2003 Poured a cloudy amber color with a tight white head and nice lacing. Nice citrus (predominantly orange) hop aroma. It's nice having a brew with one type of hop, it helps you learn what each nop smells/tastes like. Bitter grapefruit flavor. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 16, 2006 Small, off white head atop a cloudy, amber/orange color. Aromatic, spicy, hoppy nose with the emphasis on grapefruit. Well carbonated, medium-bodied mouthfeel. Taste was, aptly, bitter, and overwhelmed the descriptive malt profile. Much preferred over the Youngers Special Bitter.
