Commercial Description:
Brutal combines Oregon hops with English Malts. The Oregon grown Crystal hop is a triploid variety developed from the German Hallertau aroma hop variety with contributions from Cascade, Brewers Gold, and Early Green. Crystal is the only hop used in brewing Brutal and it provides a massive amount of aroma without dry-hopping. The English malts used are floor malted Pipkin (a mellow cross of Maris Otter and Warboys, from an English company called Beeston), Cara Vienna and Cara Wheat.

Golden orange color, with a big, beautiful white head. Fruity aroma - much like that of an IPA. This is one great beer. The first tastes are the varied malts used, which give way to the intense grapefuit bitterness of the hops. Starts off like a great ESB and finishes like a great IPA. The best of both worlds!

Pours a hazy orange amber color with a thick rocky white head. Excellent aroma and flavor of floral and citrusy hops with caramel, strong, lasting bitter finish. Medium body, creamy texturem lively carbonation. Definitely the best bitter I’ve tasted.

Pours cloudy amber/orange with active carbonation and rocky off-white medium lacing head. Aroma is hoppy from the pour, with pine and grapefruit. Flavor is hoppy, citrus, yeast, malt. Palate is creamier, smoother than expected. Soft, lingering finish.

Poured orange...not copper, but ORANGE. Nice balance of citrusy hops and bready malts. Rich, full and well done!

Small head that dissipates slowly. Honey opague coloring murky. Bitterness hits you upfront the malts tone it down throughout. Slight sweet citrus taste. At the end the bitter aftertaste makes its presence known.

Not what I expected, but great. Flavor is big on citrus with that hop tanginess, but it doesn’t overpower. Instead it’s complimented by some malt, and the whole package goes down smooth with a clean follow. Verges close to IPA territory, but stands firmly apart. Good stuff.

This is what all summer beers should be. Rich and flavorful without being heavy, cloying or scorchingly hoppy. I coud drink this all day. Explosion of citrusy hops in the aroma and rich malt flavor. Just superb.

Bottle. Awesome pour, hazy golden amber color with a generous off white head, with a ton of lacing. Aroma is pine, citrus, floral. Flavor is more pine, floral, some malt. Palate is medium to full, with a sweet, resiny finish. This was really good!
