Medium amber pour with an off-white head that went away pretty quickly. A bit of a sweet citrus aroma. A very mild malt taste followed by strong bitterness that lasted for a while. 505 (271), Echo Park, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 26, 2006 Nice sweet, caramel, floral aroma. Pours a hazy golden-orange. Taste is nice, relatively complex for an ESB, with tart notes, balanced well by the malts. Medium bodied, pretty good. I have been avoiding this in my fridge because I usually don’t like ESB’s, but they did a nice job of staying in style, while making it pretty damn good. bdjames29 (272), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

I took a gulp of that and said to my wife without thinking, "I want to stick my face in this." In my opinion, its that good or maybe I was just really, really thirsty. Great looking murky, amber / copper color. Nice white head that stuck around. Great flavor with some citrus and maybe a touch of pine. Terrific hop flavor. Perfect feel in the mouth, beautiful body. Very solid - my full rec. JB175 (1664), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA

Flavor has a nice, smooth bitterness that would make most IPAs blush. Very complex and enjoyable. As good as any ESB I’ve ever tried. Nephilium (558), Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 2, 2007 A sweet aroma with an underlying nose of hops starts this beer out. It pours a hazy tan color, with a quickly diminishing head. The flavor is crisp, hints at sweetness which balances nicely with the hop finish. This is a very tasty ESB, and one I’m glad I was able to find. xav33 (313), Midland, MI, Michigan, USA

22 oz bomber
Moderate pour in an English pint
Recent brewing, enjoyed 04/07.
Poured a slightly hazy dark amber with a large frothy somewhat diminishing white head with fair lacing.
Smelt of moderate caramel, pineapple and lemon.
Taste was upfront strong bitter spruce and grass and moderate sweet caramel followed by a harsh spruce and dry leaves and light sweet citrus on an average length finish.
Palate was light to medium bodied, creamy, softly carbonated and strongly astringent.
Overall, this is a very satisfying beer in terms of taste. Strong flavors and aromas, brutally bitter as expected. Good stuff. marchcow (664), Coralville, Iowa, USA
