Hoppy, lime-lemon hints to the nose. Bitter tongue taste completely segmentated from smooth malty body and light finish in nostrils. I’d like to re-rate again . . . and again. mfaulke (81), clemson, South Carolina, USA

I haven’t had many ESBs but I can confidently say that this is not your average representative of the style. Leave it to the guys at Rogue to mix it up a bit. I bet this is a good one on tap. Cheers. Very hoppy flavor, I was expecting less because of the moderate 59 UBU rating on the bottle. The malts are a lot more subdued than I was expecting but this is a very nice tasting grapefruity hoppy type of beer. Very IPAish to me despite the ESB label, but it’s a nice beer nonetheless. I still think rogue stuff is too expensive when I can get stone and bear republic for 3.29 instead of the 4.99-5.99 rogue price tag.

After the initial shock, this becomes an unbelievably drinkable beer. An awesome pre-dinner drink. lovemyipas (420), sw burbs, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 31, 2008 pours a cloudy burnt orange with a nice 11/2 finger fluffy off white head. aroma is malt and hops with some orange. has a medium body with good lacing and great carbonation. flavor is stronger than the aroma and there is some orange peel and pine. has a dry hop aftertaste and the orange peel and pine sit on the tongue for a while. there is also sediment floating around in the pint. as it warms the aroma gets a little stronger. this is probably the best bitter/esb i have had so far, and almost reminds me of a strong apa. very good. it says imperial bitter on the bomber, i will go along with that. mansquito (843), Boston/Philadelphia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 25, 2007 Really cloudy orange (we initially decided on amber/bronze hybrid... lighter than an IPA definately)... looks kind of unfiltered, not sure if it is though. Some head on top that leaves a pretty lacing. Really nice smell. Really does entice you and stuff. Not completely brutal, but definately a strong hop taste up front (this is nothing compared to some Sierra Nevada beers for example). The taste changes after the front by the time of the finish. The hoppiness is diminished while the interesting aftertaste takes precedent. cfrancis (352), Gloucester, Ontario, Canada

A fairly hazy brown/red brew, but not too thick and not too much of any one colour, sort of an inbetween. Nice and thick on flavor, the hops are definately prevalent all the time with only some crystal malt flavouring. Quite nice.
