Pours murky toffee-ish dark amber color, sudsy white head that falls to film before you get much of a chance to think about it. Occasional condensation-like drops of lace here and there on the way down. Modest nose; not much to say: some light pacman ale-y fruitiness, some little orange-y citric hop notes. Grainy medium body with active carb, plenty more fruity bits: hoppy orange pith, yeasty general fruitiness (hints of peach?), some light biscuit and very light grain husk notes. Quenching and strong enough to stand up to food--awesome utility beer. Jack Joyce couldn’t piss me off much more than he does given that I know him only as his occasional customer, but even despite that, I love this beer and need to grab it more often. Aroma is citrusy, but the hops steal the show. Flavor is - as to be expected from a bitter beer - wonderfully bitter. Hops are there, and they want you to know it from the time it hits your tongue to well after you finish. Fantastic beer all around. Jonte (833), Gothenburg, Sweden

Cloudy, hazy orange color with an off-white head. Aroma: Very hoppy and sweet. Notes of exotic fruits, apricot, grape and pine. Flavor: Sweet and fruity at first, then hoppy and dry. Notes of exotic fruits, apricot, citrus, pine, caramel and soap. Chewy and dry mouthfeel. A bit unbalanced, but a must try if you like hops. CaptBier (303), Birmingham, Alabama, USA

Very light lemon citrus aroma with hint of cascade hops. Excellent depth of character with citrus and maltiness prevailing over a light wood taste. Finish is smooth and pleasantly bitter. An excellent buy. FlssmrBrewAlum (1190), Lisle, Illinois, USA

Pours a slightly hazy amber. Nice medium head that manages to stick around minimally after pour. Smells of hops, caramel malts, and some fruit action. Taste is a nice balanced hoppy attack that fades into a smoothness that tastes rather malty. Finish is rather bitter and sharp, but enjoyable in my book. Nice memorable aftertaste that I enjoy. A beer I have enjoyed many times before, but never rated. A top tier ESB. Dark brown-orange in color, with a fluffy off white head. Not much lacing. Aroma is quite sweet, with a lot of juicy citrus hops and sugary malt. Taste is mainly caramel/toffee, but there’s a nice floral hoppiness that complements it well. Finish is bitter but not overly so. Very tasty and very smooth.
