Commercial Description:
Brutal combines Oregon hops with English Malts. The Oregon grown Crystal hop is a triploid variety developed from the German Hallertau aroma hop variety with contributions from Cascade, Brewers Gold, and Early Green. Crystal is the only hop used in brewing Brutal and it provides a massive amount of aroma without dry-hopping. The English malts used are floor malted Pipkin (a mellow cross of Maris Otter and Warboys, from an English company called Beeston), Cara Vienna and Cara Wheat.

Orange copper colour with a thick off white foamy head. Aroma was citrus hop. Flavour is smooth and clean. Nice body with a medium bitter finish. Very well balanced.

Sharp bitter in the aftertaste. Long lasting finish. Tastes like real american hops should. A bit of malt in there as well. Woody/piney. Cedar. Pleasant and sweet in the front of the mouth. Nice cross between an ESB and an IPA.

Lots of grape and pine aroma. Slightly hazy orange colour. Huge creamy head that last a long time and leaves nice lacings. Medium carbonation. Very bitter taste (but in a nice way), and somehow reminds me of Fishermans Friends. Light body but full flavoured. A very impressive beer.

Bottle. Poured a hazy coppery orange color with a small yellowish head. Aroma is very strong floral hops with hints of lemon and orange and sweet malt. The amount of carbonation is about perfect, and it has a real nice complexity on the tongue. I guess I’ve never really had an ESB before, but this tasted an awful lot like a top shelf IPA. You had the strong hops flavor with some orange and other citrus coming through, a bit of caramel and sweet malt and some bitter on the finish. Like most every other Rogue I’ve had, it’s excellent. Makes me wish I took a trip to Oregon.

Draft at Jupiters in Champaign, IL. Pours a hazy orange amber with a dissipating off white head. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Aroma of floral hops and fruity esters. Flavor of toffee countered by a bold grapefruity bitterness. Semi dry hoppy finish that is not too clingy. Enjoyable.

22 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy orange with a huge and off-white head. Mild woody and solid grape/orangefruit aroma. Flavour starts sweet with a nice caramel malt base and quickly being complimented with a nice orange and grapefruit hops flavour. Gains a light liqourice note towards the finish. Finish is dry and solid bitter with a continued lingering fruit flavour.

12 oz bottle pours a hazy orange. Aroma is grassy hops. Flavor of a little malt and lots of bitter hops. Nothing overwhelming just a nice balance.
