Commercial Description:
Brutal combines Oregon hops with English Malts. The Oregon grown Crystal hop is a triploid variety developed from the German Hallertau aroma hop variety with contributions from Cascade, Brewers Gold, and Early Green. Crystal is the only hop used in brewing Brutal and it provides a massive amount of aroma without dry-hopping. The English malts used are floor malted Pipkin (a mellow cross of Maris Otter and Warboys, from an English company called Beeston), Cara Vienna and Cara Wheat.

A nice solid bitter, good hoppiness backed by a nice malt body. Really enjoyable and pretty sessionable.

12oz bottle at di Parma, on the beach in San Juan. Golden translucent color with nice tan head. Slightly sweet malt aroma with citrus and hoppy bitter. Grapefruit, slightly sweet malt flavor with strong bitter character. Nice lingering bitter.

Very hoppy aroma, and pours out orangish with a thin white head that disappears quickly. To me this tasted like a cross between an IPA and Rogue Dead Guy Ale- citrusy with a hoppy bitter finish.

Deep citrus hop aroma, good creamy head. Flavour is abundant with citrus American hop flavour and a really nice malt balance. Very drinkable beer that I could enjoy pint after pint of, sadly I only had one bottle. This is a very good beer, well brewed and very drinkable.

I must say I was rather disappointed with this beer...mainly because it didn’t live up to it’s name in my opinion. A very drinkable and complex bitter, I wouldn’t exactly describe it as "brutal". First taste is malty, very complex and fairly smooth, followed by a crisp bitter that lingers, leaving a pleasantly cleansed palate ready for the next taste.

Bottled, 355ml from Beers of Europe, Norfolk. Clouded orange amber with white head. An uncompromising strong bitter, with a solid malty body, earthy and a little yeasty, then a dry, hoppy, leafy and fairly resinous bitterness. Really quite decent.

Had on tap at a Rogue bar in Portland. Gold with clowdy body with nice head. Medium body and bitterness. Easy to drink with some spice, nuts and citrus. Well balanced and easy to drink.
