Pwn3d (597), NYC, New York, USA Jun 23, 2008 Morimoto Soba Ale. Palate is crisp and smooth. Flavor is orange peel, some bitterness. Didnt notice any alcohol. Actually similar to Yuengling, but with a nicer palate. I really like these Morimotos so far.
mdm46410 (554), Griffith, Indiana, USA Aug 29, 2008 Poured from a 22oz bomber labeled as Morimoto Soba Ale and served in a shaker. Some nice lacing was left behind. This beer poured a slightly hazy golden amber with a two-finger thick head of creamy off-white foam that settled into a lasting cap. The aroma of the beer was made up of oranges, orange zest, toasted wheat, and some light caramel. The flavor included bright orange notes, light caramel, some faint lemon, and a strong buckwheat/cereal grain backbone. The mouthfeel was light-bodied and somewhat creamy/smooth. Moderately carbonated. Decent, but nothing to get excited about. DTM (365), Winters, California, USA Aug 20, 2008 Bottle shared with Timfoolery. Poured an orange color and had a citrus aroma. Thin-bodied beer with a hint of bananas for flavor and maybe a hint of hops. Rogue has done much better. timfoolery (336), California, USA Aug 18, 2008 Got this one on advice from a friend who doesn’t rate beers. It was okay. The taste was funky, like sour/bitter bananas. However, it was awesomely smooth, balanced, and drinkable. I’m 50-50 here. texasbartender (151), Sugarland, Texas, USA Aug 17, 2008 Morimoto Soba Ale. The beer poured a hazy orange yellow with a thin head. the nose is sweet fruits with a hint of yeast and sugar. The mouth feel was thin and watery. the beer was drinakable but not much else. mabel (1633), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 6, 2008 [1372-20080518] 12floz bottle. Very mild citrus aroma, mostly generic toasted grains and some yeast. Hazy, bright orange brown body with a quick creamy white head. Bitter plasticy peat moss flavour has strong burnt earthy undertones and wheat grains and light corn notes. Medium body is bitter. Weird but interesting to try with its super burnt earthiness.
