| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 22, 2009 Pours a big puffy head, and a cloudy brick red color. It’s sloshy like the bitter sea itself! Flowery hop aroma; pale malts with a bready base come in to balance it, but the nose is pretty much Pacific NW hops. In the flavor, bitter hops rule, flowery at first, but then with a bitter pine finish. As it warms, the roasted caramel malts assert themselves, until they end with a burnt cookie finish. Feels smooth and milky, finishes dry and ashy. It’s a terrific bitter pale ale. Terrific hop/malt balance. gnoff (3574), Göteborg, Sweden

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jul 20, 2009 A outstanding beer. Pours an amber color, but the hop profile is intensely present. Large body mostly defined as a hell of a bitter ESB. mspindler (328), Alta Loma, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 20, 2009 Bottle shared by DuffmanSW. Pours cloudy brown with a foamy yellowish tan head. Mild aroma of citrus and pine, some toasty malts. Flavor is bitter and roasty, some grain and citrus, burnt characteristics. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 19, 2009 Draft at Coles in Buffalo. Pours copper amber with an off white head. Sweet and hoppy aroma, a hint of citrus. The flavor is well balanced, with sweet malt and floral/citric hops. A solid amber ale. WinoInTraining (107), Longmont, Colorado, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 19, 2009 Color: fairly opaque, deep red orange, more brown than red.
Nose: real malty and slightly grainy,
Palate: Initial bitter bit, much more than the typical malty reds. Bright and drying. Creamy, enveloping, but clean. Great integration of hops into a Red without overdoing it with the malt.
Somehow lacks complexity. Braudog (3773), Dayton, Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jul 18, 2009 22 oz’er. Poured deep oaken brown with a monstrous, rocky top. The aroma is of a late autumn orchard and caramel malt. This drinks with a nice rich caramel texture, frothy and thick. The beer is tangy and woody, mildly floral and subtly spicy. Very good.
