Bottle bomber from Party Town. Poured a clear brown color with a large frothy off-white head that was mostly lasted and had very good lacing. Good roasted malty and spicy hop aroma. Medium body with slick smooth texture and soft carbonation. Moderate well balanced spicy flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Good complex brew.

Taster at Seattle International Beer Festival. Orange brown color; smells of caramel, peppery hops, clove and citrus. Complex for an amber. Unfortunately the flavor is not quite as complex, with lots of peppery hops and a very bitter aftertaste.

Good, very well balanced beer. Nothing stands out, tho. Would be best distributed in a six pack, tho, because it can go session. Bottle at Food Stores, Coral Gables

Bought this as "Northwestern Ale". Floral nose of pine resin, burnt citrus and spice. Pours a cloudy mahogany. The mostly lasting beige creamy rocky head leaves good lace. Definite british pale overtones here. Nice roasted malt front with no acidity and a long definitive finish. The full body is soft and creamy. Very well done...bravo.

First, let me point out I don’t typically like Rogue beers. This was an exception. On tap at Barley’s pours clear red with an off white head. Aroma is caramel malt typical of a red ale with some citrus hops mixed in. Smooth mouthfeel. Flavor follows the nose and upfront I get the caramel with a citrus hop finish. I was surprised. This was a nice brew.

Light brown foam. Nice fresh citrus hop aroma. Nice bitter bite with a big hop taste and some malty caramell.

6/12/2009: Rogue Captain Sig’s Northwestern Ale pours a honey-red color with a foamy, dark beige head. The hoppy aroma showcases citrus, grapefruit, perfume, pine, dried pineapple, and sugary toffee malt. Some tropical fruit and a moderate bitterness are balanced with toffee malt in the flavor. The middle of this beer is dary and it doesn’t have much of a finish or lingering aftertaste. It is thick and has a medium to medium-full body. Overall this is a respectable Pacific Northwestern-style Red IPA.

1 Pt. 6 Fl. Oz. silk-screened bottle (14.5° Plato, 80 IBU, 75 AA, 36°L) from Safeway in Seward, Alaska. Rating #142 for this beer.

On tap @ Lures-Crownsville Md-deep amber/mahogany color w/a moderate head. Burnt hop aroma. Bitter hop flavor w/a good bit of carbonation. Some bitter pine & floral hops as well, kind of one dimensional. Has a little bit of a malt backbone to give it some potential, but fails to deliver. Short finish which leaves the drinker wanting more & lamenting this wasted effort.
