| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 20, 2009 Bottle. Very dark amber almost looks brown unless held to the light. Long lasting foam and some lacing. Fruity hop aroma but a big mouthful of citrus, pine and woody hops. Fairly malty and a bit sticky. Enjoyable highly hopped. Tasty tangy citrus aftertaste. Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly lasting.
Body is dark amber, unfiltered.
Aroma is moderately malty (toasted grain, caramel, cookie), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, resin), lightly yeasty (dough), with notes of black tea, dried mango, orange peel.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter.
Medium to full body, velvety/watery texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic, lightly to moderately astringent.
Abrasive and astringent in the mouth, as are a great deal of Rogue’s beers, but reasonably well balanced. Nice aroma with decent complexity and allure. Not my sort of beer, but pretty good for what it is. highibus (431), Mill Creek, Washington, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 19, 2009 Bottle. Pours murky amber, with a smooth, foamy head. Aroma of citrus, roasted malts, and a subtle hint of vanilla. Firm body, with a crisp, slightly bitter finish. Very nice signature ale. wingman333 (242), San Antonio, Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 14, 2009 Cloudy amber with fluffy off white head. Extremely bitter but in a good way. Citrus notes with noticeble sediment at the bottom. Seems stronger than the 6.2% Meatmallet (120), Salem, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 14, 2009 Appearance: Pours a dark amber color with a huge foamy tan head. The head sticks around for quite some time and leaves lots of lacing all over my glass.
Smell: Floral and pine hops with caramel malts. Has a good smell but nothing too amazing.
Taste: Has a very consistent bitter pine hop taste all the way through. Some mild toasted malts in there as well.
Mouthfeel/drinkability: Light to medium bodied and very dry.

A unique taste arose that may have originated from the chocolate malts which when washed ashore with some fine cascade hops was terrific.
