Aroma of citrus hops, toffee, nuts, bready and caramel malts. Taste of chewy caramel and toasted malts, dried fruits, and a huge grapefruit bitterness in the finish. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Jul 4, 2005 Draught at Capital Ale House in Innsbrook. Appears a dark cloudy reddish brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is rich and sweet and malty with a floral, citrusy hop nose. Some mild fruitiness and dark dried fruit also comes through in the aroma. Flavor is malty sweet upfront: caramel and toffee. Raison and plum ester notes follow along with a big citrusy, piney, and spicy hop profile. Interesting mix of tangerine American amarillo and spicy Noble Sterling hops. Alcohol warmth in the slightly dry finish. Body is very full and smooth with a moderate carbonation level fitting in this style. SpringsLicker (2043), Tennessee, USA

Pours a light brown with hints of red at the edges under a light tan head.
Strong hop aroma with lots of warm honey notes to it.
Thin body and a dry finish stand out. In my mind the flavor is characteristic of Rogues’ barleywine. Tasty. Mangino (1027), Mississippi, USA

Aroma is funky fruit, reminds me of a barleywine. Flavor is suprisingly hoppy, lots of pine needles and grapefruit, sweet malts balancing. Nice! fly (1332), austin, Tejas, USA

If by chance you have a bottle, drink it slowly and savor every last drop. I could write a book on the experence you will find in that bottle. But, where’s the fun in that?! mjsherid72 (2), California, USA does not count | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | May 20, 2004 Bought the last case Rogue AleHouse in Portland had for sale in May 2003. A rich beer that combines a complex mix of fruit and malty hops. Its’s alcoholic effects are swift and welcomed. I could not wait to indulge myself with the next sip.
