The aroma is a crisp fresh version of the smell from a can of chipotles in adobo. I’m surprised that chipotle aroma is so evident. There’s a lot more chipotle flavor as well, although no heat. This is well made. It had to take some work to get this balanced. Unfortunately the chipotle flavor doesnt go over nearly as well in a beer as it does with some braised pork. Interesting, but not something I’d drink frequently. DerWeg (760), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 26, 2009 Bottle from Arena Liquors in Columbia, Missouri. Pours dark orange with a big beige head. Aroma was not as spicy as I’d expected, but still had chipotle pepper notes along with plenty of smoke and some sweet malts and earthy notes. Flavor of chipotle peppers, smoke, bacon, sweet malts, and chili powder. Not as spicy up front as down the pipe- I could feel more heat in my throat and chest than mouth. Light-medium bodied. Interesting enough to recommend. Pwn3d (1070), Manhattan, New York, USA

Unique, haven’t had a brew like it.. Not sure if I like this beer or just admire the interesting juxtaposition of beer and pepper. At first, the smoke flavor is overwhelming, but as you continue to drink the hint of pepper builds to a genuine spice. It was a beer that made me think, but maybe a little too much on the question of whether I actually enjoyed it. Leighton (274), New York, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 14, 2009 Interesting. On tap at Rattle n Hum. Pours a a dark orange with a slight white head. Nose of sweet malts and spicy peppers. At first, the taste is not very spicy, but that quickly changes, especially on the swallow. The chipotle flavor is pervasive and lingering. Medium body. A crisp, sharp finish. I could never see this beer as anything more than a novelty for me, but it’s nice to have something different now and again. italianjohn (360), Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA

Almost like you should eat this not drink it. durhambeer (1214), Durham, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 3, 2009 This beer is tasty enough that it almost breaks out of the category of novelty beer. Smoky chipotle nose and flavor. The pepper hides behind the smoke, so it’s really more of a fuller smoked beer with a hint of pepper. Not sure when I would drink this (or more than a few ounces of it), but I liked it.
