Sweet candied malt aroma, slightly fruity, with a touch of chili. Super light upfront flavor that finishes with a nice chili kick! Light candied malts and a touch of yeast. Too vague a base for those chilis, wish they had something to support them. The chilis have a bit of a bite in the finish and aftertaste. I’m kind of liking the idea of the Mole Black & Tan... why don’t they just bottle that??? Disappointing, wish it was fuller in body...

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 26, 2008 Bottle @ Beer Palace, Oslo. Coarse one-finger off-white head. Near-clear golden brown colored body. Medium sweet aroma of light nutty malts, toffee and raisins. Taste is peppry with dry caramellish malts, plummy fruitiness and a proper amount of bittering hops. Healthy body. Mild spices and lingering bitterness in the finish. Padron4KM (405), Chandler, Arizona, USA

Light amber with a thick tan head.
Malty aroma, with a light smokiness in the background.
Flavor starts lightly sweet and malty, ends with a long lasting, smokey, spicy kick. Not too spicy, just enough to let you know it’s there.
This would pair well w/ some bbq ribs or a some pulled pork. v64 (74), Austin, Texas, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 20, 2008 Interesting. Definitely an aroma and taste of peppers. Large head. Light amber color. The beer does have a spicy aftertaste, which was stronger than I had expected, very nice touch. The only problem is, it’s not a very good beer otherwise. Good to try once, but that’s enough for me. phishpond417 (1953), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 19, 2008 A very unique beer to say the least, sampled at Rogue ale house in Portland: Poured a dark red body with a fairly large almond head. Aroma is sweet, and nutty mouthfeel is fairly light, taste is moderately hopped with a spicey, peppery finish. Flavors of chili, barbeque ribs and spaghetti sauce. lowgun1212 (87), Montclair, New Jersey, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 15, 2008 just a touch of red in that average amber ale color. you can smell the heat but not the smoke. taste is off somehow. you got the chipotle but also some celery or brussel sprout too. id rather see malt fight the heat than hops. fares far better paired with the chocolate stout for the Mole. elnadeau (786), Laguna Niguel, California, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 12, 2008 Munich malt comes through a bit, not quite enough crystal to balance the other aspects of this brew. I’m not getting enough chipotle flavor to justify the addition or even the name. Would not recommend. kseecs16 (914), Naperville, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 12, 2008 bottle. Smell is malty, sweet no real noticable spice or roast chipotle character but a little bite in the nose. Appears clear amber with a big foamy off-white head. Flavor is basic malty ale with a touch of spice, but little roast smokey character I would have liked and expected. Some spiciness lingers on the tongue but mostly just dry malts. I wanted more out of this one but still enjoyed it.
